You do realize that the vents are the made of the same material as the rest of the body and they're painted in 'carbon flash metallic', right?
When it comes to whimsical details, I don't think I'd put Ferrari, or Italian cars generally, in the "more serious" category. I don't mind Ferrari's over-the-top Tricolore stripes and shields and rain lights and race modes and gratuitous retro/faux-F1 design details - that's just part of the fun - but since when was _any_ of this considered serious? Leave serious to Audi, Lexus, Porsche, et al. In this respect, the Italians and Americans are more alike than they are different.
Chevrolet is really out and about visiting car events with many opportunities to see the new C7. That first picture really shows off the sharp fender crease that runs right though the top of the headlight. Very neat design feature there. Green can be a tricky color but this Lime Rock looks good. CH
I was referring to the interior dash. The Ferrari is much more purposeful and straight forward. The Vette, and particularly that laughable "stingray" shaped steering wheel just isn't serious. If Ferrari made a steering wheel in the shape of a prancing horse or a horseshoe, then I would agree.
That color looks good on the car, but it has now been confirmed that crappy seats are still available, yay!! I can't wait until all the auto writers get to sit in some of the "lesser-specced" cars. Then we can get more of the same old "the seats are s#!*" comments...
Still shouts "80's" to me. Look at the 308. It has little black vents all over the place. That's as 80's as Abba. They have an option to paint the front hood grill body color. The rear you'll have to paint yourself.
Actually that smaller steering wheel was specially engineered for the C7. Smallest airbag wheel GM has ever done... CH
Actually, the seats are 100% redesigned and made to be more comfortable. The magnesium frame is stronger, lighter and won't flex. They now have ventilation for the first time. And, they also for the first time have a racing seat CF option for track purposes. The interior is the one area they worked hardest on from the C6 to C7.
I've now aged enough to read the automotive press on Corvettes since the 80's and here is the cycle: Pre-launch: Stiffer, better styling, more power, nicer materials. so european! Launch: What a big improvement over the last Vette! Almost there with the European cars. 1-2 years in: Acres of plastic, too many components shared with lesser products, design really getting dated. When is the next generation coming to fix all these problems? Rise, lather, repeat.
Also: "The latest 911 is finally easy to handle at the limit!" "This new Ferrari is practical enough to use as a daily driver!"
"More GT car than before. Better interior build quality. More stable front. More comfortable. Faster [auto] gearbox. More power." These will be the headlines for the next generation too, guaranteed.

Great sound on start up. I cannot wait to hear it at full song. The sound of a car is a huge part of the experience and "fun to drive factor." I applaude Chevy for taking the time to design a car that can invigorate all the senses. Mark
Have you guys seen this? I absolutely adore it (probably the first shooting brake design that I really like!). Yes, it's a photoshop unfortunately... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Been kicked around for a couple of months. I think it's a proposal by an aftermarket fitter. It's not being proposed by GM.
Corvette Stingray Shooting Brake under consideration by Callaway --- LOL. --- below is from above link... Image Unavailable, Please Login
With a plastic body car, this kind of modification isn't difficult. The chassis structure already supports a convertible so there's no issue of losing strength. All you have to do is make a new fiberglass rear deck and attach it at the targa top interface. Very doable. Shooting brakes are good for daily drivers. The FF is a 4 passenger version while the Callaway will still be 2. That makes the wheelbase shorter which makes it look more sporty than the stretched FF. I like it. I would not buy it but I do like it. If you want a GT with more space or need to carry around a lot of stuff, why not?
^ Thank you for the additional photos. Yes, to me it looks much sportier/sexier than the FF. I think if they make this it will be a sought after model for a long time. I hope they go ahead and build some.
