    The prize money has always been really good. In the (good) old days there was even the occasional extra prize for certain races. I won my red Ferrarichat blanket for one of the races in the epic 2007 season.

    It was just a shame that so many diverse catastrophes affected so many if them in the first race. I think only one of my guys finished in the points! Malaysia has got to be better. :)

    Really looking forward to the race. I get to watch this one live (i.e. not recorded, rather than physically there) with my wife, which is a rare treat. :D

    There were a lot of teams hoping for rain as this race rolled on, but unfortunately for them there was no reprieve from the clouds. Instead, one team put on a textbook thrashing. It's starting to look like it might be a long season for some traditional leaders.

    F1 is dead, there is simply no way that these turbo beasts can generate good racing . . .

    That was the refrain before this week, but I think the night race at Bahrain showed that there is indeed great racing left in the series. The cars looked great, the racing was tight, and it looks like many teams are finally getting a grip on the technology.

    Before you celebrate.... the race was never in doubt about one of the Merc winning the race. You have to give some credit to Merc for allowing Rosberg to challenge Hami --- but I'm still suspicious of how the last 2 laps went down.

    The safety car bunched everyone up for the last 10 laps making it more exciting and evenly balanced. If you think that's a solution to better racing, then just have a safety car at every race the last ten laps (like the mystery Nascar "debris on the field").

    There are two classes in the field: Those with Merc engines and everyone else. You can almost predict now the top 8 positions.

    And to add insult to injury ---

    The Mercedes safety car sounded better going around the track than any of the F1 cars.

    the Circus returns to Europe, where the backmarkers hope to change the feel of the season. For those who believe the "real" season starts at home, this weekend is a harbinger of new hope.

    The big story remains the intra-team bickering between drivers. Given the easy-going and egoless personality of the typical F1 driver, this should all blow over soon . . .

    Ahhh, I was hopeful for a podium, but I guess it's not to be. It's difficult to turn around poor starts to the season as there's little money for changes/development. Perhaps I shouldn't have gambled so heavily based on the winter testing of Williams. :eek:

    Because I'm a bit of a number geek, here's a stat:

    The perfect score in the IFGP F1 contest is 166 points. That is 1st and 2nd place with Chassis (43 points), 1st and 2nd place with Engines (43 points), and the top 5 driver positions (80)

    Because of our limitation on the number of drivers per category, it is very unlikely that anyone will ever score all the points. But this season, there's finally been a perfect score.

    Congratulations to Rob Lay, for having all 5 top drivers on his team, and the first and second place engine/chassis combination.

    Hi gang!

    The circus has swept through the tight city streets of Monaco, and it was truly an eye-watering experience for some. We saw a surprising number of engine failures, and a number of talent failures as well. All-in-all, not a terrible race for spectators this year, and a bit of a point-shifter for the participants as well.
