    LUMINOX GOES DIAMOND!

    The timepiece maker was founded in 1989 by FOG member Barry Cohen and Richard Timbo. Barry had come across a Swiss self-powered illumination system that he felt would have an ideal application for watches, and he was spot-on. Luminox (Lumi is latin for light and Nox is latin for night) specializes in the production of high-performance sports watches distinguished by their cutting-edge luminescence and readability.

    From their Navy SEAL collaboratively designed watch to their field chronographs (my personal favorite) to their limited edition motorsports watches, Luminox offers a broad range of activity-specific, high performance time pieces, all of which are fully illuminated in complete darkness, for up to 25 years.

    There’s never a need for an external light source to “charge” the dial and hands. Luminox has produced watches geared for 3 realms (Sea, Air and Land) but now adds a 4th dimension with the production of the first-ever, Space Series.

    The new series consists of 2 levels of GMT models (in carbon reinforced polycarbonate and steel), as well as an ana-digi model and a valjoux automatic chronograph, both produced in titanium. Luminox is partnered with Space Expedition Corporation (SXC), which will begin offering civilian trips to space in 2015.     Is the Launch Gala black-tie (or black-tie optional)? I was encouraging Freshmeat to arrive in his 5 pt harness-equipped Ferrari, and to let us video record him exiting his car in a tux and racing helmet!

    I gotta give props to the other Maestro, Dave Bush, for that one. It was a memorable experience collaborating with the other individuals for that article. As you know, Forza owed us 355 owners a little bit of love.
