Of course the Daily Fail has to be to the extreme... everyone else is "Bianchi injured" or "Bianchi in surgery" or " Bianchi critical"... Daily Fail is all "Bianchi fights for life"...

Twitter is saying that surgery is complete and he is not on any sort of life-support systems.

Did anyone else notice that the green flags were waving during both cars being crashed out! Then they changed back to yellow. Strange. Marshal panicking maybe.

Very bad accident. It reminds me Maria De Villota's also bad crash. He is a very talented driver.

I wish him the best and a speedy recovery.

Reality is often disturbing but it is a necessity.

True. And far from being disturbing, this pic shows that his helmet looks reasonably intact, at least from the perspective shown. Let's hope for a positive outcome.

Can anyone substantiate the twitter claim that he's out of surgery and not on life support?

Well, after the shunt yes - as is common practice during motorsport events unless a full course yellow is issued or SC present.

Wow thank God if true. That said if the safety helicopter can't fly then you can't race. Safety comes first, even ahead of tv. Massive fail by the FIA IMHO.

And who was it on here stating Flavio orchestrating NPJ to stick it into the wall was not a big deal....

Lap 42 Ham leads by +12.500 secs
Lap 43 Ham leads by +13.740 secs
Lap 44 Ham leads by +14.099 secs then SC

Enough said, anymore questions, Ham haters.

I thought as soon as there is a crash, the yellows come straight out in that area.
I just took another look. Lap 42 sutil crashes, then the yellow flag comes out. A lap later the yellow flags are still out, but the guy in the tower next to the crash waves a green flag.
    Why?

Glad to see him not on a ventilator and out of emergency surgery.

Bad news is the CT scan showed severe head trauma/damage.

    Sure.

And I'm sure there will be much debate about how such a thing could be avoided in the future.

The 'double yellows' were waving, which out there means, 'great danger, slow down, and be prepared to stop'. Unfortunately, seems the newly falling rain caught him out with this terrible consequence.

I'm not sure what else they can do? They certainly don't want to leave crashed cars lying around, they have to get them out of the way before the track can go green again. They were all trying their best to do the right thing.

As for the poster that mentioned the green flags/lights - again, standard procedure to wave the greens after the incident to let them know the track is clear past that point.

    'Motor racing is dangerous'.

    Get well soon Jules,
    Ian

    Glad you said it!

I thought about it, but figured I'd keep quiet until we know more about how he's doing. But, yeah, you're spot on unfortunately. Any accident can have unforeseen consequences is basically what I've been trying to say to those that try and defend that ****ing cheating slime ball.

    Get well soon Jules,
    Ian

I agree. It's racing. Incidents will happen. I think everyone needs to relax and take a step back before pointing fingers. Let the facts come out. There certainly will be an investigation, but not every accident requires a rule change. Some certainly do, but not all.

    Agreed.

I just hope this doesn't revive the "closed-cockpit" debate within the FIA.

Of course all racing in all forms is dangerous, it says that on the tickets.

Telling someone to crash deliberately, that is entirely a different matter.

    Agreed.

A terrible accident that unfortunately brings to mind poor De Villotas accident. :(

It remains, and always will be, a dangerous sport.

So far anyway, I'm not hearing too much 'finger pointing'. Everyone appears to have done what they should do; at least two doctors were on scene almost immediately. The extrication team was also. The correct flag procedures were followed.

It sure does. What insane coincidence.

Speaking of: IIRC it was at the Singapore GP where one of the Speed guys already made the mistake of stating that Senna was the last F1 driver to die from the sport. How fast they forget.
