Glad I tuned in to see Kimi only 1.7sec behind his team-mate.

That's pretty good for him. :(

No. Judging by the commentary after FP3 I can see where the Kraftwerks of the world come from...

So, the most important question this weekend is:

What has to happen for Ham NOT to win the championship?

    Should've been Jules :(

The turbos and energy recovery systems are as F1 as it gets IMO. Suck every drop of performance out of the resources you're given, (mostly) within the rules - what's not F1 about that?

If they'd allowed unlimited fuel, or more importantly fuel flow, I might agree.

But for me, F1 is supposed to completely blow you away with the performance and sound.

The fact that the cars are slower now than 10 years ago and sound about as exciting as a speech by Julia Gillard is an absolute tragedy.

And completely the opposite of what F1 is supposed to be.

When the GP2 and even GP3 cars sound WAY WAY better, and in the GP2 case at least are virtually as fast there is something seriously, horribly wrong.

Everything sounds rubbish compared to the V12s, so if they aren't gonna bring those back, IMO we might as well face the fact that noise is just wasted energy. The old turbo era had limited fuel and boost pressure, not many people complained about that! I think it's just something to get used to. And I love that you can hear the cars doing so much more now!

There's a rumour going around that the stewards discovered a rubber-encased leaf spring arrangement. If that's true, it's pretty blatant!

How do the others do it then? When you see the slo mo shots they all seem to flex alarmingly. They have to a bit or they'll break I know but I'd be fascinated to hear how the amount etc. is measured.

Article 3.15 of the regs says no flexibility, and article 3.17 describes how they test and put limits on the inevitable slight flexing that must exist. There's a shot of the Williams laps sitting quite far back at speed then popping up again under braking, but who knows whether that's within the specific numbers that are allowable? RBR said they'd been singled out unfairly, but others are saying that several teams were tested on Friday and passed no problem.

Lewis got a good start, and didn't have to push for the rest of the race. Poor Nico....but even if he'd won, Lewis had the WDC in the bag

did you notice him crying in the drivers cool-down room?

I thought he was gracious in victory. It was a well deserved WDC.

Pity Massa couldn't quite get there at the end though. I think Williams deserved a win this year somewhere. Battery (and I assume tyre) problems in the last few laps stopped him :(

Great job by Dan as usual!

Ross Brawn rumours drew a hard stare and an "I....don't know" from Piero Ferrari after the race.

Top drive from the pits. There was some good strategy and some great overtaking moves. He really does seem to like the fight.

Kind of interesting to compare the pre-race Lewis (giant gold chain, swaggering, trying to look like some sort of hiphop hero) to post-race Lewis (teary, gracious, humble almost). I guess the mental hype needed to get yourself to these ultimate levels leads (unconsciously of not) to the former, but there'd be a lot less hate towards him if we saw more of the latter.

Let's hope DR sticks with his natural self when he's stepping up for WDC! He really is the driving star of the show at present, IMHO of course!
