    Greetings -

I bought this 2014 MV Agusta Brutale 800 Italia EAS last October as a "replacement" for my 360 Spider. It is immaculate, and is about half of its original sale price despite having only 1730 miles on it (not a typo).

Prior to listing the motorcycle for sale the bike was fully serviced and any open service bulletins were performed by the local MV Dealership. The ECM was updated as well. I have the receipt confirming the work and dated June 17th (last week).

If you aren't familiar with the motorcycle here is some information: 2014 MV Agusta Brutale 800 | motorcycle review @ Top Speed

For us gear heads here are some specs: 0-60 in 2.7 seconds, 0-100 6.8 seconds. 800CC engine - 125 HP (!) at 11,600 RPM, 60 pound feet of torque at 8,600 RPM; 378 pound weight - 3 pounds per HP!

This is NOT a beginner motorcycle. I've owned many motorcycles over 45 years of riding and this one is my favorite performance machine, even more fun than my Ducati 916. MV Agusta is a high performance manufacturer and this bike is loaded with their top shelf options: (1) Slipper clutch; (2) EAS - Electronic Assisted Shifting; (3) Throttle mapping; (4) Upgraded ECM - the new upgrade allows "race mode" functionality - provides the maximum performance possible; (5) Fully adjustable front/rear suspension; (6) All controls are adjustable - helps the motorcycle fit you as if it were custom built.

The ITALIA EAS model is their top version of this motorcycle, and is painted in a custom color combination available only on the Italia model. It is designed to be a "high end" machine in every way - with the engine designed with assistance from Ferrari, a fully adjustable front/rear suspension, braided line connectors, Brembo brakes and lots more. It's both a motorcycle and a work of art.

Price new with described options is near $15K. For sale at $8,000, fully serviced including Battery Tender and included STRADA RACING bar end mirrors (bronze color - matches headers/exhaust) and mounting gear. Also includes two keys (original), owners manual and related material, and a MV USB with all the information on the drive.

Please reply with your phone number so I know you are a serious buyer. Price is firm and very fair given condition and options. For the price of a major service and a set of tires you can own a "Two Wheeled Ferrari".

The motorcycle is for sale locally as well, so if you're interested please let me know quickly. I'd rather sell to a forum member than a stranger.

Thanks for the kind comments! Shipping to Denver should only be about $600!

What fun is temptation if you resist it?!

I sold the 916 years ago. It's a nice machine, but requires a "dedicated" riding style. You must be in a full race tuck all the time, the clutch pull is likely to make your left arm look like Popeye. (I'm old - you may have to look up Popeye).

The under seat mufflers roast you after a short ride, and for anything longer it gets pretty hot. You also have to keep moving to keep it cool. If you're in a city/suburban stop/go riding situation the bike isn't very happy.

It also has a very limited turning lock - it's designed for the track, not the street. If you ever need to make a tight U turn it will be a challenge.

The friction zone on the clutch is very narrow - again a track setup, but for any fine control on the street it's a challenge.

Despite all of that the bike looks great and always starts a conversation, but in the end it's more show than go unless you're always riding on the track. Too many compromises on the street.

The Brutale for me was a better choice. Smaller displacement, but 3 cylinders. Gives the best of both worlds - instantaneous revs and strong torque. With the electronics in the Brutale you can control the bike far better on the go. Think of the difference between the Italia and the 355. The 355 is a great looker, sounds terrific, but requires lots of expensive upkeep and ultimately has been surpassed on a performance basis. Despite the smaller cc engine on the Brutale, the combination of great electronics and more usable ergonomics makes it a better ride - at least for me.

If you're in the market check out the BMW S1000 RR - it's a monster machine, a bit heavy, but very usable on street and track. Keith Code Superbike school uses them -- lots of fun. (I've taken classes with Keith Code's school - highly recommended, and he's a very good guy - gives you lots of time and attention).

I get a bit carried away talking about bikes - far cheaper than F cars, and you can fit 8 or more in the space of on F car - and all 8 likely will cost less than 1 F car!

I'm holding out for an SB8K. Sold mine a few years ago and have been kicking myself ever since.

That said, I do love me a Brutale. The Italia is actually the only new-gen Brutale I like, having owned a 910s and 1078rr. I suppose we always gravitate to the generation we started with.

All that said, good luck with the sale. And who knows, I do keep coming back to the page to look at it, so....

I too had the 910S - the B800 beats it in every way. The Bimota SB8K is quite a machine - Garcia Motors is my local Bimota dealer and if you get the itch he may be able to locate one. I also know several Italian bike enthusiasts that may be able to help as well. One owns several Bimotas. PM me if you want more info.

Over 45 years of riding my favorite bikes include the BMW R series - fun to ride, can do anything and go anywhere, and without a windshield or radio it's a "real bike"; (2) Ducati 916 - my first "superbike" - uncomfortable, unforgiving of casual rider inputs, and something that required skill and learning to appreciate; (3) Honda Valkyrie/VFR - two different bikes, each ticking the right buttons for fun and worry free riding. The Valkyrie had an amazingly smooth 6 cylinder engine and torque that could pull trees out of the ground; (4) various Harleys. Lots of people knock them as being slow, old fashioned and underpowered. That's all true, but that's not why you buy them. For casual "smell the flowers and enjoy life" riding they are still hard to beat. By the way I owned a 2006 Harley Street Rod - water cooled engine designed by Porsche. It was an amazingly fun bike.

There is something magical in riding on two wheels - you can LEAN over and feel G forces that you don't ordinarily experience outside of a serious track day; the performance/cost ratio is compelling; and with both hands and feet engaged constantly in the ride you can get into a "Zen" moment and sustain it for hours on end.

Unfortunately Father Time doesn't accept compromises or excuses, and to me the best thing to do is realize that my biking memories are rich and alive - and so am I! Time to watch others enjoy the sport.

Yep, it was certainly a good deal for the buyer. The bike's immaculate, just fully serviced by the MV Agusta dealer. Needed nothing. The Italia is a special paint/option bike. Only thing it didn't have was ABS, and for those who ride this bike as it was designed, with a short wheelbase and 378 pound curb weight ABS isn't very useful since the rear wheel is in the air under hard braking.

I hated to let it go, but without full control of my right hand/arm it's far too serious a machine for casual riding. It would have been a nice ride around Lake Norman, especially the back roads further north.
