Hey, we've (just about) adjusted to the narrow cars so in time these will seem "normal".

True, I remember the 6 wheel Tyrrell, I found it amazing, in those days.
The 6 wheel Ferrari 312, though never really raced in a GP, I believe.

That is correct, and neither did the "Spazzaneve" (2nd from last photo).

They've certainly done some bad looking **** over the years though! It is what it is.

As you said before, 'fast is beautiful, but beautiful isn't always fast'. ;)

    They'll be fine.

    Cheers,
    Ian

    Kimi doesn't give a damn!....

    Gotta love Kimi!

Always refreshing to be reminded that the only thing that matters is to make the car go faster.

F1 and the fans care about aesthetics because vanity panels wouldn't have come about otherwise. I bet the rules will be changed next year to make the cars less hideous.

Part of the reason I don't follow Indycar is the fact that the cars look ridiculous. Sure the sport is going to be *JUST* fine, and I'm sure they will be fast, but can we get a set of rules that doesn't make them an eye sore? It's not that hard.

Should be one of the most interesting seasons we've had in a long time. The Cans don't seem happy, Kimi -v- Fred should be awesome, and some of the midfielders could easily move forward. Sucks that the wheels seem to have fallen off Fauxtus, but they could find some money I guess.

As long as one of the power unit suppliers doesn't completely dominate it should be great.... While I'd admire a stunning technical achievement, only one being 'capable' of winning isn't what I want. Hopefully, they'll all be there or thereabouts.

Testing next week! And while we can't read too much into the first test it's certainly gonna be very, very interesting.

    Cheers,
    Ian

    +1 unfortunately.

And, for now at least, not just the minnows. I'm amazed Fauxtus had to take the Revs money to stay (somewhat?) afloat after their last season.

    Cheers,
    Ian

Sorry, just got back to this thread.

I liken a high horsepower, naturally aspirated engine to a martial arts expert who has spent years honing his skills. I liken a high horsepower, forced induction engine to a street thug with a hand gun. There is NO WAY I would have purchased a 360 if it had a turbo. Or any other turbo car. It seems like the F1 cars are going the way of the ricers (i.e. Honda Civic with a huge turbo hanging off the engine).

Beg to differ there. The tech they're running now is *way* beyond what the ricers can even dream about! I'm particularly interested in the MGU-H, as it's power potential is both unlimited and, implemented 'correctly", should totally eliminate turbo lag.

At long last, they're once again pushing the envelope!

'This is why we watch!' ;)

    Cheers,
    Ian

For a few years before they get progressively frozen (ugh). BUT, you're right, this is 1000x more interesting than the V8s.
