Was in the market for a 2010 Cali and heard Ferrari may release a new model in
the fall of 2015.Question is should I hold off buying now and wait to next fall, since, car
would take a major hit if that occurs. Thanks for any feedback.

And then you'd be a few years away from the next one and worrying about another theoretical fall in value and so on

Cars depreciate & new models are part of the cycle - since you are looking at the bottom of the market anyway the effect is going to be minimal - just buy it now & enjoy

    Where are you based gmoney?
Yes a new car will be presented in March 2014 in geneva so depending where you live it will be there end of 2014 or end 2015.
In any case that's quite a long time away....so do like I did just now. Buy a used Ferrari and then if you love the new Cali you can change it after a couple of years. Well worth it instead of waiting on the fence.

It's like should I wait for the iPhone 6? Life is too short, just get on with it and use the purchase to enhance your position with your dealer. The 'old' Cali is a great car.

I agree the affect on a 2010 will be minimal .. It seems to take Ferrari a while to go from introduction to having a significant number of a new model on the street.. Maybe you lose a few dollars but you will lose a few dollars on any new car..
    best of luck

If they draw styling cues from the F12 & up the horsepower to 500+ (both likely IMHO), my sense is the demand for the new one will be strong from those who seem to delight right now in throwing stones at the current model. That would drive scarcity, drive prices up for the new model and probably leave the depreciation curve for 2010-13 pretty much alone. If the new model is popular enough, it could even have a positive effect on the older models by bringing bright lights to the model line & drawing in folks who do not yet own a California of any year, and who may then want to get one.

The reduction in production numbers this year has bumped the prices in most instances. DuPont Registry has one 2013 F12 listed for sale- at $515,900 (!). If the California is received favorably, orders would spike, prices would rise, and the rising tide would float all Californias. Of course, as the 2015's get into the market in sufficient numbers, those prices would probably settle, so either buy early or wait until after the rush for a new one- perhaps buy early, lock in your trade value & sell while the new one is being built if you want to time the transactions to maximize $$ your direction (as much as possible when talking about purchasing Ferraris...)

Dont over think this too much. If you like the 2010 get it. If the car is announced in Fall 2015 that would make it likely not on the street until 2016.... Thats ~2+ years from now....

It really doesn't matter what will happen to the value of the California! The car is a liability not an asset. Albeit a very beautiful ,fast and diverse automobile. What the next model is going to be and what it will do is anybody's guess. Why suffer? Buy it and enjoy! I promise you , you will have no regrets. If you are worried about depreciation then eliminate the pain and buy and hold for 30 years. It will have appreciated by then . Good luck and enjoy

Like the man says, you buy a car to drive it not to worry about how much you will lose when you resell it. You are not a used car salesman! :)
