Hence my above post...if Vettel and Kimi finish more or less together, the naysayers will have a field day. They will not believe that Kimi had a development year so to say and will be up to his ''pre 2014'' speed. They will simply say they both suck and with different drivers the championship would've been won if it wasn't for ''those 2 toolbags driving the red car''.
Same here. Button has more than proved himself to the world when he went against Hamilton in the same car for 3 years. I don't expect Button to beat Alonso, but I also don't expect an ass handing like Vettel received from Ricciardo. In fact, I believe Button could beat Hamilton in a Mercedes. Those two had some of the best races going toe to toe without taking each other out. Kimi vs Vettel, I'm rooting for Kimi.
Button beat Hamilton while they were both at McLaren, and even scored more points over 3 seasons together. What makes you think Button couldn't beat Hamilton again in the same Mercedes car??
It will be interesting, but Button tends to excel when you have dicey racing conditions (I.e. Weather changes). There is no way to predict how that will play out, but on straight pace I think Alonso has a pretty good advantage. However, we will see for certain in the next 30 days or so. Honestly, I have to admit I'm anxious to see Seb in the Ferrari. 12 months ago, this board would have been giddy to learn he was coming to the Scuderia, but then the 2014 season happened. I think it was an anomaly (though I agree he was definitely helped by a vastly superior car) and expect we'll see a motivated Vettel this season.
Good post. I agree Vettel int the Ferrari is very interesting. He is a sharp and intelligent person. I would be surprised if he does not bounce back so to speak. Mentally he was not connected it seemed last year. IF he does poorly vs Kimi that will add to the train of thought he was as you posted. Gifted with the car. Love F1 lol

About Fred: "What he did at Ferrari was drive a car that was, at many times, junk." I can't disagree with that comment.
