We've reached 28 pages in this thread. I'm hoping for catastrophic failure at this point.
They also tell people it's safe to fly, but planes crash. Go figure FINALLY! YES, DRIVING ON TRACK OR ANYWHERE ELSE FOR THAT MATTER DOES RISK TIRE FAILURE.
Pirelli did that because they are supposed to give the teams some indication about the lifespan of their tyres so that some strategy can be made. Under FIA protocol, Pirelli is contracted to provide several types of tyres, one with 50% duration of the length of the race MINIMUM, the others with 30%, I believe. But those are indication only. One stop strategy has worked before, therefore it's acceptable to believe it was a correct choice for Spa. Spa is mostly a high speed track. But then, Pirelli had cold feet and wanted to announce maximum duration of 20 laps per set, instead of 40. But they didn't warn enough the teams to say their tyres performance were marginal for this race, with the result everyone knows. Even the Pirelli technician inside the Ferrari pit went ahead with Ferrari's strategy. But anyway, if excessive wear is the excuse from Pirelli about Vettel blow out; what's the excuse for Rosberg's? Pirelli is in the dock. Hopefully they will do better for \Monza or questions will be asked.
Source please? I've certainly never read anything to that effect. It may be true, but I'm not sure about it being "FIA protocol". It *may* be what Bernie asked for, but I won't be convinced until I see some evidence. The entire race was only 43 laps....... Cheers, Ian
And that is where the problem lies. To you and company Ferrari has ZERO blame, Vettel has ZERO blame, but Pirelli is 100% at fault. It's interesting that all of you know this with 100% certainty without having any Ferrari data, without reviewing tapes, and without Pirelli data. Can we at least agree that running a tire for 70% of the race increases your risk of failure more than if you ran it for 40-50%? I'm not blaming anyone. My opinion was the the outbrust was uncalled for and that *hit happens no matter what somebody recommends or estimates. This is why we have practice. You do your testing make your calculations then execute on Sunday. Sometimes it goes perfectly and sometimes it doesn't. I was actually more curious about why somebody would take a risk of running for 70% of the race when we already saw that there was a potential problem?
I don't agree with most of that....apart from the fact that lewis and vettel and the most whiny of F1 drivers ever!! Remind me, how many laps had Nico done when his tyre failed?....because according to your logic, anyone who did more laps than that on their tyres was taking an unacceptable risk.
Is ti really that hard to understand that the tires are designed and made by humans? They didn't come from another planet. Things don't always go according to plan. If I have a blow out tomorrow that doesn't mean that everyone with the same tire will have a failure or vice versa. Yes, they all take a risk when they go out. Risk will obviously increase the more laps you do. Nothing in life is guaranteed. But somehow you guys want a 40 lap guarantee. What was the track temperature when Nico's tire exploded? How abut Vettel's? What was the camber? What was the tire pressure? How many times was Nico off track? How about Vettel? It sounds like you have all of that data and have concluded that Pirelli is 100% at fault.
You have your eyes so heavily focused on whatever your agenda is that you no longer comprehend my posts.
What agenda? Just because I don't agree with throwing all the blame on Pirelli without any facts I must have some secret agenda. I swear the way you guys are reacting toward ONE delaminated tire it feels like they canceled the race due to numerous tire failures. I think Pirelli better bring a super super hard tire to Monza otherwise heads will roll.
Vettel blew it! He has horrible tire management and completely over drove his car... good job finger boy!
No way...... Makes me wonder sometimes though, trying to stay within the rules, it's difficult in the face of some of the posts made by certain people here. Im trying me best to allowing myself one reply per day on subjects wherever I can to avoid getting embroiled in someone else's explosion
