Mike, you did notice the question mark? This year's playoffs I think will be remarkable for the lack of stellar, start every game, clear #1 goalkeeper on the playoff teams. Even going back to the first round, teams had to play second and in a couple cases third goalies.
I know, I was just kidding around . I agree with you, it was anybody's year to win this year, I don't see anyone heavily favoured over the other. A stong case could be made for any of the 4 remaining teams. One thing I disagree with is St.Louis replacing their goalie.
Just heard from my buddy who was there tonight. It's known as a loud arena, but he said it was ear hurtingly loud at the end. Go Sharks! Cheers, Ian
So, our nosebleed seats ~$30 each for the season are now...... Wait for it.... $350 each for this! I have some friends with ~$80 seats. I'm almost afraid to ask 'em what they're going to be now! I'm sorry, but guaging your season tix holders like this is just wrong. Cheers, Ian
You know Ian, some teams make their STH buy ticket strips for every playoff series in advance once the team qualifies for the playoffs...and then if eliminated the money is applied to next year's STH cost, so no real chance of refund. If you don't buy the playoff strips, you lose your STH preference/ priority. Not that this is a problem here in Raleigh...
You're absolutely correct. I'm out of our little 'consortium' nowadays, but do recall being asked to buy playoff tix ahead of time assuming every series went 7 games, all the way to the finals. 'Credit' to be applied later if that didn't happen. BUT, I want to say our (at the time) $27 Tix were about $100 for the finals. No where near $350. Supply & demand at work I guess.... Cheers, Ian
I hope the Pens are up for the challenge tonight. Even the local broadcasters seem a bit nervous about it; considering Pittsburgh's game seven history. Such a rare opportunity to watch your favorite team play into June. Congratulations Ian, looking forward to the finals!
I'm looking forward to it. Few things as good as playoff hockey IMO. Thanks! I'm genuinely excited! Cheers, Ian
I've often said, I'd be happy if they just make the dance. But, now there, am I ever shouting for 'em! Hopefully a good, fair, series and zero talk of the zebra's. If they're 'transparent' (as they should be IMO) it should be great. I'm not gonna wish you "good luck" though! Cheers, Ian
I'll go with that! Except I think it may be just 5..... Regardless, hopefully we'll see some truly great hockey - Sid's always fun, & Joe & Patty are playing out of this world right now. Cheers, Ian
You think it's going 7? I've heard the 'conspiracy theorists' claim they do in order to maximize revenue (same in basketball), but I'm not convinced.... These are top level pro athletes, they want to win. Cheers, Ian
I think they are pretty evenly matched, so I'm expecting a long series. Seven games = more hockey to watch, so I hope so! Way too many moving parts for there to be a conspiracy, IMO, but you never know!
I want to say another great game, but it really wasn't. SJ didn't show up until the last 5 min of the 3rd period. They still had a chance to steal that game in OT but Pitt prevailed.
If you will indulge me for a minute, may I say Rest In Peace for former Flyer Rick MacLeish who helped my beloved Broad Street Bullies to two Cups. Linemates Ross Lonsbury and Gary Dornhoefer helped Ricky become the club's first 50 goal season scorer. In those days coaches almost NEVER broke up a line, and Fred Shero certainly didn't. Possessing a wicked wrist shot and a mane of wild curly dark hair, Ricky scored the only goal in the game 6 clincher vs. Bruins, the first Cup win for a non original six franchise. There were more famous Flyers (Parent, Clarke, Schultz) but Rick was a hell of a player. He was just 66. Thanks for the memories. Keith
Second! Guy had hands of gold (or........twine!). Could really score. THX for that, and a walk down NHL lane.
