currently Ferrari 1-2 in GTLM :)
The guys doing the commentary here called the DW a ticking time bomb. It always blows. It was doing so well, too!
Hadn't heard that commentary on the Delta Wing. They were running very impressively, leading for a time until they had to serve a penalty for a pit infraction. Katherine Legge ran a masterful stint at the start. Looks as though the development they've put into the car has started to pay off. Pity they got caught out by the ineptitude of officialdom. BHW
I think that's a reference to the DW's chronic reliability/durability problems. I don't think it's ever finished a race longer than 3 hours.
Beating the dead horse.... Watching now at 8:16AM and the Tracy Krohn Audi R8 has pulled fully off the circuit just after the infield kink. They throw a FCY. But a car that is full stop right on the racing line on Turn One doesn't warrant a FCY? Perhaps I'm just getting old but this is confusing to me. Where is the consistency? Who is in the race control room now? BHW
Finished 5th at Petit '12. But after getting the brunt of the Green Hornet wrecking ball earlier that weekend, God let it run that race unscathed
What happened to the 488 in GTLM? It was #2 in class last I watched and it dropped to 4th. Also, #22 Weathertech. Went down from leading the class.
#22 was having handling problems. Rear wing mounts were loose/ partially busted. Not sure about the 488. The 62 had a busted front splitter but no spares
Missed the entire race, except the winners circle celebration, because the hospital does not have FS1.
Great results for the Corvettes- 6 out of the top ten were Corvettes, including a 1-2 in a brutally competitive GT/LM
Great racing. First time I can say I'm glad I worked yesterday and last night (1PM-8:30AM ET) as I had the race on the entire time at my workstation and watched intermittently. I woke up this afternoon just in time to watch the last couple hours. Crazy finish with the C7Rs!
ALMS teams win overall (Extreme Speed) and GTLM (Corvette) and excellent racing throughout. This is the beginning of the end of the DP kategurry (sorry, been listening to Hindbaugh for the last 24 hours). Now that they've taken the blinders off of the P2 cars, the DP cars certainly look pedestrian (but, haven't they always?). BHW
Just like when those hideous Porsche "prototypes" entered GrandAm with head and tail lights made to look like Porsche road going cars, Porsche AG came in and requested that they be removed. Chevrolet just going along for the ride in DP now. The class is finished. Long may it waive. BHW
The Ferraris never posed a real threat to the podium. The 2nd, 4th standings were probably a result of the lead cars pitting.
That GTLM finish was riveting! I'm a big fan of Olly Gavin's, and I was happy to see him manage to hold Garcia back, even if just barely. Amazing racing. Happy to see another Brazilian in the winning team. 4 in the past 5 years, not a bad streak! And of course Rubens in the WTR car was a nice treat, too! Cool race...
Great to see such a strong Daytona 24. I was also amazed at the Delta Wing holding the lead yesterday for a time, although it did it at Road America also, another high speed track.
