I think just the pit penalty? As much as it was his fault, I don't think it was intentional, just over zealousness from him in his home court, those building size banners of his head inflated it in more ways then one!
I don't give him a pass for the last race either. So for my it's two races and three hits! And I'm not even tifosi and I think Vettel has gotten absolutely shafted!
10 sec penalty and 3 penalty points + he almost certainly loses his drive at RB anyhow now. He wasn't exactly on thin ice, but they need to move Verstappen up and RBR don't want to lose him. If it was going to be between Kvyat and Ricciardo, Kvyat made it a hell of a lot easier now.
Yes, F1 is a fickle environment, and Kvyat may have sealed its future by unwanted attention in Sochi. I don't agree that he was at fault in China, but coming together twice with Vettel won't go down well with the team. Horner was fuming that Ricciardo was also affected in the fracas. Red Bull has a good car and the Renault (sorry TAG-Heuer) engine is holding well enough to get them in the points regularly, and on the podium from time to time. A lot of missed opportunities because of a silly mistake.
I think the "no mercy" comments he was making before race certainly didn't help. There's a lack of maturity there that inevitable I guess at that age. You make stupid comments trying to be cool or cocky or whatever... it's all fun and games until the next race and you make yourself look like total idiot. Even in China, I think he sort of started the confrontation with Seb making that stupid "how was the race? comment to him or whatever it was he said in the green room with that stupid smirk on his face. I think that's what really set Vettel off.
I just watched the cockpit video again on the SF website. The Force India car ahead of Vettel fishtailed and Vettel lifted slightly. Then WHAM! Kvyat hit him the second time. Dany locked his brakes the first time. If that kid wants to get in front of Vettel, or anybody else, he should qualify in front of them. Otherwise give the rest of the grid a friggin' brake and make the move a little later on so we can have an actual weekend and get our money's worth.
In China Kvyat: What happened at the start? That is what set Vettel off Vettel: You asking what happened at the start! What happened is you crashed into us and all three of us go out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yeah that's what he said (tried to reference that in my post above). Kind of an ****** thing to say...especially because all things being equal you had one of those days where a blind squirrel found a nut. No reason to be smug right away. Ric kinda does the same thing sometimes just in a nicer way. They have one moment of good luck or fortune and they start talking and acting like they own the place and begin the quote machine for the next two weeks. Im impressed that Vettel didn't react worse given that level of arrogance and chiding.
Seb will just be looking forward to texting him at the end of the season 'so, what happened to your career?..... oh, and can I have fries and a coke too please danii?'
ironically though he's probably faster than Seb just like Ricci is he definitely deserves a drive just needs to rid himself of his amateur mistakes
Forgot to mention, but Red Bull drivers announcement is at Spa. Which happens to be Verstappen's (kinda) home race (in any case the closest F1 track to where he grew up!)
