Should see RC Enerson testing with Coyne I would assume.

He started dead last also. At one point he passed a guy over a huge curb. I don't think they took any action which seems bizarre. There were quite a few crashes. You could advance a lot just by staying out of trouble.

  3. 'Didn't see the Daly incident but Newgarden's wheel was not "ripped out of his hand by a curb"...he let go intentionally, as is very much suggested, so as not to break any more bones, prior to impact with the tire wall. Standard procedure, especially in open wheel, as fingers, hands, wrists are easily broken by whipping steering wheel when road wheels make contact with immobile object.

He certainly let go intentionally after the curb ripped the steering wheel out of his (broken) hand. ;).

Sorry but you need to watch the replay again and listen to his own account of the incident. It was ripped out of his hand by the curb. Then he caught it. Then he let it go when he knew he would hit the wall.

The Daly incident was similar, but I don't think he ever got his hands back on it when it got ripped out - only watched it once. That is also what T.Bell reported...

    Exactly.

Yes, many screws in his body but he is tough and already won with it like that.

But Daly is a beast and also got owned because he put a wheel wrong and the force through the steering was too much.

After not having seen Montoya for some years, post-CART, and then interviewed a
couple of years ago on his return to Indy Cars, I hardly recognized him.

Interesting images from the Mid-Ohio test. Were there some ground breaking technical
breakthroughs and announcements of new manufactures coming on board as used
to happen at tests such as these in the CART days?

I do...everyday. I having one right now. It involves multiple engines, open transmisions rules and other rules permitting innovation and creativity. Once the single malt scotch kicks in I might even believe tha Mario won in 1981. (Fat chance on that one!!!) :D

So, these tests that they do now-a-days, are they solely for the teams to get baseline
assessments on tires for Firestone? What are they allowed and not allowed to do?

Do we know who footed the bill for this latest test?

As for Montoya's weight, in his driving suit, he looks like a fat kid in oversized pajamas.
There used to criticism of Paul Tracy for being chubby but compared to Montoya today, PT
    was downright svelte.

    Dixon's car; but not Dixon's helmet ; )

I believe that's Felix Rosenqvist - F3 champ and current competitor in Indy Lights.

    Thanks for the shots!

    Whoa, that's fairly major news.

Chip always seems to find top sponsors but its hard to remember when he wasn't
    hooked up with Target.

Target has a new CEO, and he doesn't seem to be very interested in the motorsport marketing angle. NASCAR/Larson deal runs through 2017 and his comment was something to the effect of "we look forward to finishing our contract with NASCAR".
