feeding air underneath the car and to the floor which generates this phenomenon called downforce. maybe you've heard of it other designs guide air over and around the nose to get to the floor, force india has stuck with this unique design which is a clever interpretation of the regulations.
I'm not liking what I see...hideous shark fin, a bump midway down the nose, overall ugly nose. Some side pods look cool. The Williams looks okay; the Martini paint scheme and smaller shark fin helps. Oh please sound better...
NO ONE CARES! They need to get rid of wind tunnels and just go with a standardized computer analysis where each team has the same software. If they are serious about cost reduction and making the teams more equal from small to big, this is the first place to start. Limit the cost of each wing and winglet to reduce the number of pieces and complexity. This kind of Aero does NOTHING to advance the state of the art of real cars in the real world. It's just extracting the 0.00001% because you have the budget to do so.
I am getting tired of the bait and switch 'new regulations'. We got fat tires and lower rear wings however are still stuck with the ugly noses that we were told weren't going to be there. Time to stop letting the engineers control the sport
Youre out of luck. Posted a day or so back that it was confirmed that no efforts were made to change the sound... regulation-wise or otherwise. They only discussed changing mic positions on the cars and track.
It doesn't go underneath the car knucklehead. I said it directs air to the floor, not underneath it. Speaking of their floor...looks like there's a big gap near the leading edge of it just behind the barge board! Image Unavailable, Please Login

Maybe you should be more precise in what you write. Anyhow I thought you were referring to the knuckle, or bump, on top of the nose which would not be forcing any air down but would create turbulent flow aft of it.
I don't think F1 cars look pretty at all and have never thought they were. Open wheel racing car looks have not ever appealed to me at all. That said the Force India with the broken nose looks worse than the Renault and I despise Renaults

Well that's a disappointing start to the day. That Merc already looks miles better engineered than any of the other reveals so far. If the engine is also delivering a significant step forward then we could be in for a very dull and disappointing 2 car season.
