Championship lead extended
Well done Ricci, Seb and Lance! Tough luck being overtaken by Bottas under DRS but he certainly put paid to all his detractors. He wasn't that far behind Ricci. Good run by Bottas if only he hadn't ruined Kimi's race.
RICCI WHAT A CRAZY RACE Stroll so unlucky he should of moved over! Lewis the only driver that can get away with cheating
Wow that Mercedes walked past the Williams...that car is seriously quick. Congrats to Stroll...hopefully that podium keeps people off your back the rest of the season.
A one race ban for Vettel is not out of the question. Such discipline is NOT unprecedented. I hope I'm wrong.
It doesn't need to be a brake test - Once the safety car indicates that it is coming in, the lead car becomes the pace setter, but they have to maintain a constant pace, they are not allowed to speed up and slow down as they please (From the 2017 F1 Sporting regulations): 39.13 When the clerk of the course decides it is safe to call in the safety car the message "SAFETY CAR IN THIS LAP" will be sent to all teams via the official messaging system and the car's orange lights will be extinguished. This will be the signal to the teams and drivers that it will be entering the pit lane at the end of that lap. At this point the first car in line behind the safety car may dictate the pace and, if necessary, fall more than ten car lengths behind it. In order to avoid the likelihood of accidents before the safety car returns to the pits, from the point at which the lights on the car are turned out drivers must proceed at a pace which involves no erratic acceleration or braking nor any other manoeuvre which is likely to endanger other drivers or impede the restart. In this race, both drivers appeared to be guilty of breaching this rule - Seb to a bigger degree than Lewis. Had Seb not lost his cool and driven into the side of Lewis, then we'd be listening to the German and Italian anthems right now!
While one cannot really argue against Vettel's penalty (even considering Hamilton's braking) , Bottas getting away with his move on Raikkonen was questionable to say the least.
