I'm not a hater by any means but I'm also not a tofosi. BUT I have to say watching the team and Seb and the cheers, songs, etc is absolutely awesome. Very well done. Arrivabene is going to be made a Saint.
Arrivabene has very little to do with it IMO. Love or hate him this was mainly cause of Marchionne's restructuring and Binotto's new powers. Where are all those people sure Italians couldn't organise a winning team?
Last year they really did some radical thinking in the aero of the car. I believe Merc may still have a few more ponies on them but the better aero makes the handling better and they seem to last better on the tires. But they still don't qualify particularly well. And that's an issue long run.
The Buck Stops there. He will get an unfair amount of credit for the good and an unfair amount of the blame for the bad. That's the consequences of being in the top seat.
There's still too big a gap between Vettel and Kimi. That needs to get corrected. The Mercs finish 1-2, 1-3, or 2-3. They will win the constructors championship at this rate.
The Buck Stops at Marchionne if anything and last two years, with the same amount of responsability, Arrivabene didn't seem that clever either
I hope the momentum can continue, but the Mercedes are still very strong. If not for Hamilton making the wrong call for when to pit for tires in Australia and him earning the penalty today, Mercedes may have won all 3 races. Lewis could be the most important team member for Ferrari if he continues to make serious mental errors. Very happy to see Ferrari and Seb winning, got to love the national anthems being played liked they were so much in 2000-2004! Forza Ferrari!
I believe Ferrari was upset with Kimi in the last race because he wasn't concentrating on his settings information well enough. There seems to have been a lack of concentration. Today his start was pretty terrible.
Respectfully, I completely disagree. Seb is just as smart as MS and maybe a little more cunning. Ham was catching the Ferrari because Seb was dangling a carrot and hoping Lewis would respond and hopefully crash/break. Watch the conversation in the cool-off room. One of the first things Seb says to Ham "i thought you were going to catch me". Right at that moment, Ham's face went pale and he realized what just happened.
If not for an unlucky safety car last race Ferrari would have won all 3 races! We have a car as good as the emrc in race trim..a bit slower in qualy, but we have a better driver.
I got the impression that Ferrari were hoping Lewis would overcook his brakes. We've seen brake failures on the Mercs before, and Lewis was glowing around the track, as well as blowing out clouds of brake dust. Especially after Max's brakes went away. This season could come down to reliability.
Totally agree. We could easily have been looking at three SF wins out of three. For sure MB have a faster car over a single qualifying lap but SF finally look like a team that can win and keep winning.
Maybe, but wasn't it the team's fault for bringing both cars in at essentially the same time, or in not getting Bottas' car done quickly enough?
As predicted the Ferrari long run pace in practice was the difference. The chassis is just nice and easy on the tires and is a match for Mercedes over stints vs qualy. Well done to Vettel. I hope Bottas can sort his set up issues to compete more with LH. LH was foolish to risk a penalty as he did. He clearly violated the rule and deserved his penalty. I do believe Vettel would win no matter. He was impressively quick!
