And like I have said somewhere else on this site, Max is a loose cannon, short term thinker (and I'm being generous, I don't think he thinks, he just barges on and expects others to get out of his way.

I hate to say it but I think Kimi unintentionally created the situation that happened :

    1. IF he hadn't have had such a great start
    2. IF he had moved as far left as possible instead of just going straight

But if Max had have braked instead of keeping his foot into it (again, not thinking long term) I think kimi and Vettel may have touched in the first corner anyway

IF Kimi qualified better, maybe Kimi would not have been in this situation. Coulda-woulda-shoulda. IF did'nt happen. IT happened.

The old Kimi did the qualifying, the MOTIVATED Kimi started the race ...... a bad combo

Kimi and Max can't be to blame. Vettel is supposed to leave a cars width and he failed to do so, which is why I refuse to have a problem with Schumachers move on Barrichello in 2010...Barrichello had a problem with it but schumacher always gave him just over a cars' width.

Vettel moved to the left (nothing wrong with that), Verstappen moved left as far as he could but he had Kimi there. Kimi couldn't move much more left either. Vettel at this point shouldn't blindly expect that no one would be on the inside of Verstappen, that's sheer arrogance really to believe no one could have a good start. It's up to Vettel to compensate for the possibility of another car being there, it's not up to Verstappen to brake, nor Kimi. Vettel moved further than he should have done, simple as that. In any case I urge anyone to view the onboards on youtube and in .25 speed. Even then it all happens pretty damn quick, no matter how early Verstappen anticipated the collision it would've happened guaranteed. How anyone even expects Verstappen to brake well before the corner and then not have a whole herd of cars crash into the back of him is beyond me.

The conclusion is very simple; Vettel moved too far, Verstappen didn't assume Vettel would be so damn stupid to risk an accident when he had the chance to significantly grow his title lead, and Kimi just made a great start and kept his line.

I'm angry because I saw the whole thing happen after quali, and I didn't expect Vettel to be so dumb not to see it.

IF Kimi had decided to have a lie in instead of going to race, he wouldn't be on the track and there wouldn't have been an accident:confused:

If Vettel had a good start he wouldn't have had to fend off Verstappen, IF Vettel had the sense to understand there may be other cars on track, he'd now be leading the championship.

IF Ferrari had a faster car and both cars got P1 AND P2 in every race, the WDC and the WCC would be locked in already. IF IF IF......I could do this all day.

I'm simply agreeing with you Bas.

    I did :)

He is very prone to hot headedness, very much what the English use to accuse the Italians of being .................... WE BLOODY_WELL AREN'T :p

^^^^ that was the Italian side of me coming out

Dan seems to be able to avoid this sort of thing (he doesn't expect his team mate to clobber him :p )

What a cluster eff. Ferrari finds a way to fail even when they have a slam dunk. Vettel could have phoned this one home.

    As to Vettel's chances:

It is interesting that one is praised being the real deal going for every gap even if it disappeares (not for the first time) and the other is called stupid for not giving up the inside in a race he desperately needs to win. But this is just an opinion...

But what is really beyond me is the manner you articulate against others not sharing your view. As far as I can see by the time Max hit Kimi he was driving further to the left than he needed...and I am surprised that you did not say anything against those stating that it was actually Kimi driving into Max insted the other way round as Kimi clearly kept his line without going to the right...

If you think that I am biased it is your good right (I actually think the same of you in this matter) but calling others names says a lot more about your niveau than it says about mine...

Another red mist blunder by Seb--Baku and now Singapore--there should be another two in the win column. Seb blew the WDC and has no one to blame but himself. Lewis evidently believes that he is The Chosen One.

I think you both are biased whereas I just think Dan is the best driver out there :D

Webber was average but Dan is the real deal .:p ............. along with 4 or 5 others ........ but NOT Alonso (I need to stay on the good side of furoni :p )

The frustration is palpable. Someone at McLaren tells me there is now a fist-sized hole in the wall of Alonso's driver room...

fernandoalo_oficialToday was the day. The first podium for the team was a clear target. The car launch like a rocket and We could be running P2 in the first lap but we found ourselves in the wrong place at the wrong moment after RAI and VES had their contact. Thanks to the team for the superb effort all weekend and hope for better luck in Sepang. Thanks for the support

I recorded this race to watch this evening. After the incident I just fast forwarded to the end hoping RIC maybe at least took the win. I am sensing a conspiracy - Mercedes win this year and then leave reverting back to engine supply. PORSCHE come in to fight Ferrari.
Let's see if I'm right and not crazy.

It would be an underserved win,if Vettel takes the championship this year. He's gone downhill since leaving RB.

I guess Ferrari are trying to reinforce the idea that driving Ferraris at night is just wrong. ;)

    Once again, Ferrari bungles Singapore.

Just looked at the replay in television (without the initial shock). While I still believe it's a racing incident, I'm less convinced that Vettel owns any great share of the cause. Max and Kimi made contact right before Seb moved to block Max. They all wanted P1 and siht happened...

Vettel made a slightly questionable move during a so-so start, but could not foresee the accident happening. With that so-so start he created the possibility for Max to get alongside him, which he had to avoid by blocking him. Not nice, but that's racing.
    .
Max started better than Vettel, accelerated in a straight line and got sandwiched in the end , could not do anything about it. Anybody saying otherwise is biased and losing credibility.

Kimi made a great start! Wow!
and could well see Vettel make his move to the right, with Max having no room to go anywhere. Max could not even see Kimi in his mirrors when Kimi decided to go for it.
So I blame Kimi for this, even if he was just accelerating in a straight line after the initial start.
He is the one that could see it all happen in front of him, but decided to go for it anyway and block Max on the right side. What was he thinking?
