^ Good point. I agree, although to some extent it works in reverse, in that winning engenders managerial/front office stability, but certainly trying to stick with a plan has its merits. Cleveland are the poster boys for changing the plan way too often, although Buffalo & SF seem motivated to give them a run for their money.

It took Tom Landry about 6 years to hit his stride with the Cowboys, which was then followed by a sustained run of excellence nearly 20 years long. Today, Landry is likely fire in year 2 or 3.

I think Jax and LA tried to do this with Bradley & Fischer, respectively, and Dallas has done so with Garrett, although many people here in Big D would argue that Jason stays because he's a puppet for the owner. As for our GM, he ain't going anywhere! ;)

Indy is interesting to me, since they have coaching and GM stability - albeit turmoil - a blue chip QB, and not much to show for it over the past decade or so.

In no way am I stating that Kaepernick is the next coming of Joe Montana, but come on guys....if Weedon and Geno Smith are still on an NFL roster (there are many mores duds I can name), and Kaep isn't, then the NFL is more corrupt than the Mafia.

To many fans, perhaps, but his teammates gave him the team's highest award at end of season, so one might conclude he is popular among his peers. Of course, they ain't the ones with the control of the purse strings.

So, to Mike's point, I don't know if there's a concerted black listing of him among the owners, or if most teams would just rather not deal with the PR fallout.

    No.

It shows how much of turds the rest of the NFL is.

    He is clearly being blackballed.

Take a look around the league and look at the other QB's that are on rosters, and tell me Kaep isn't equal to or better.

I was about to call b.s. on you Mike, but I looked up 2016 QBR and Passer Rating and Kaep does have a better Rating than some employed folks, albeit some of them have better/more recent track records of success, e.g., Rivers, Flacco, Newton. His QBR is likewise higher than some prominent names.

    https://www.espn.com/nfl/statistics/player/_/stat/passing/sort/quarterbackRating

While I can't blame teams for not wanting to take on the PR headache, if he's not picked up by some QB hungry team that'd be surprising to me.

As I stated, he will never be Joe Montana or Steve Young, but he is a better option (to name a few) than Sanchez/Weedon/Geno Smith/Osweiller....

The trade of the century. Texans unload $72 million mistake on Browns for a second round draft pick. ;)

We should have talked to Brock before we did the trade. Ya think!

big free agents signings for 2 receivers. first draft pick will be (regrettably) a running back. the rest I am keeping secret from Cowboys fans. Meanwhile Giants (JPP franchise tag?) and Washington (usual front office turmoil) have it in reverse.

Yeah, by letting Shady and DeSean walk, and a good coach, etc.
But that was Chip Kelly, perhaps the most overrated NFL coach over the last 10-15 years.

If the Giants get a GOOD RB, I expect them to win the division, just with the
addition of Brandon Marshall. I don't care for OBJ's antics, but signing Marshall
REALLY helped OBJ and Sterling quite a bit.
I think Dallas is a teeny bit overrated, Philly is still rebuilding, and Wash. is a train wreck
looking for a crash site. AGAIN.

That's assuming Eli continues to play to a high level. He's 36, an age that many mortal quarterbacks start to wane.

He isn't as good as he used to be right now. Marshall should help. He needs for the Gmen to have a great running game.

Agreed. I think after Zeke's performance last year, for a lot of teams, the running back position will come back into vogue...T
