This car already has a Capristo muffler bypass exhaust pipe on it. We are changing the factory catalytic converters and we are installing a set of Akrapovic high flow cats in this vehicle.

The Capristo muffler bypass pipe is a very basic kit, it simply bypasses the whole muffler system and consist of a straight pipe from the catalytic converter to the exhaust tail pipe, it's only about 18" long. I would imagine that the weight savings is very significant, it uses a valve that will shut and force the exhaust gas to go through a very small diameter pipe to quiet the exhaust down. This pipe is also a very huge restriction that will choke up the car badly and the car will be very low on power when this valve is closed. I do not think I would recommend this set up to anyone to be honest.

    AKRAPOVIC CATS-

The Akrapovic cats are a high quality set of cats, I have included some pictures so that you can compare the quality of the Akrapovic cats to the factory Ferrari cats. I'm not saying that the Ferrari cats are garbage in any way, they are actually surprisingly lightweight but the pipe on the factory cats has an awful restriction that you will see in these pictures.

NOTICE THIS RESTRICTION IN THE PIPE-

    ECU TUNING-

On the 2018 Ferrari 488 the tuning is a little more complicated for us. For the 2016-2017 we have a tool in-house that allows us to unlock the ECU so that we can read the file and tune the ECU. On the 2018 it uses a different tool that we do not have access to yet. On the newer 2018 Ferrari 488 we have to send the ECU to Europe in order to get it unlocked so that we can tune the ECU. This results in addition shipping costs as well as an additional cost due to having to pay another company to unlock it for us. Hopefully we will have this tool in house in 2-3 months.

If you have a 488 and are interested in adding some aftermarket parts to your car, lease feel free to reach out to me. We have tried several different configurations on these cars and are familiar with what is good and whites not so good. I will be happy to answer any questions that anyone may have.

I do not have the ECU unlock tool for the 2018, for the 2016-2017 488 I use an EVC tool.
