It may be a parts bin special !!! Mind you it took em 12 months to build it! I guess on the upside if its a 2024 I can always use it until 2014 put in a new odo and ship it to the states - sell it as brand new.
It's probably due to being in Australia - what's the 11th digit? Well, the "79" means it's a 488 GTB, so that's a plus. What are the 10th and 11th digits? Outside North America, I think they use a two digit format. Maybe I can find something via Google that covers Australia. Ray
I also found something which says the European / Australian format for VIN numbers uses places 11th and 12th for year & month, so perhaps that's it. Try posting your VIN# sans the last 5 digits on the right and maybe we can figure something out here. Ray
It's a zero or "o" again. So it reads as ZFF79AMDOO2***** I suspect we run a different letter/number group out here.
Something seems odd here. With a 17 digit VIN#, at least in most of the world, the 10th digit is the year. However, from what I can find on line, it says that digit (i.e. the 10th year digit) is not allowed to be any of the following: U,Z or 0 (zero). Further, the use of letters "O", "I" and "Q" are precluded from use any place in the 17 digit string. So why you'd have a zero in the 10th position is beyond me, unless Australia is not adhering to the VIN numbering conventions defined by ISO Here are some links: https://infrastructure.gov.au/vehicles/imports/vins.aspx http://nisrinc.com.mandrake.arvixe.com/include/common/VIN.html https://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/CFR-2017-title49-vol6/xml/CFR-2017-title49-vol6-part565.xml I found this.. perhaps it will tell you something if you put your actual VIN# in https://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/registration/buy-sell-or-transfer-a-vehicle/buy-a-vehicle/check-vehicle-registration Ray
Thanks for your effort Ray. Will look further into it but at least it is a 488 with 17 digits, stating the month and year of compliance. That all said, it doesn't address this situation where some are claiming to have bought 2019 cars which were clearly built and being delivered in the 2018 calendar year. That's beautiful! I accept that those selling can call anything a 2019 if they like (afterall the grand sales illusion can work wonders) but as it's still 2018 why not just round it up as being a 2020 model sold in 2018 and be done with it! It isn't as if there are any differences between years. I might as well start calling mine a 2024 model just for fun as the VIN supports that.
Interesting, my original buyers order when I finalized my spec lists $1300 for front and rear parking sensors and $2700 for rear camera. So if the sensors are now $2700 and the camera is included in the base, then the net overall increase for my build, when it arrives, should be $8,500 instead of the full $9,800 I was expecting based on the increased MSRP base price. I suspect this is an Aussie wind-up but still - model years are an American technique about selling more new cars that was formalised with the introduction by the NHTSA of the VIN in 1981 - no-one else (apart from maybe now China) has them uses them or cares about them
You posted your 2019 sticker in another thread and it clearly states $1302 for the front and rear sensors ( same as 2018 ). Please explain where you come up with $2700 ? All the other options are also the same as it was for 2018 ( $1 or $2 difference on a few ).
I see, so they still charge for it, so my net increase is indeed the $9,847 bump in base price, not the lower number I surmised in post #35. I suppose it doesn't really matter--splitting hairs at this point. I'm just getting anxious for the arrival of my car....any day now...

So maybe I made a mistake on the parking camera/sensor pricing. Sorry! Bottom line is it's not free, not really a big deal to me. Best
Don't hate on Benny, just another dealer mule to have cars delivered to a "buyer" then flipped for more. These are the buyers for all the fake sold out cars with nothing but slightly more than delivery miles.
