Never got to Bridgehampton. My parents went for the '66 USRRC race. Still have some slides my dad took, Hill in the Chaparral, Surtees in a Lola T70. Lovely race cars.

A good season for IndyCar, even if this race didn't hold much drama. Congrats to Colton Herta on the kid's second win of the season. Amazing!
As they should be at a road course. The race was well attended as noted by the broadcast and many (another board) attending posted they hadn't seen so many since the CART days.
I thought it was an exciting race. you don't need a lot of contact, spins etc to be exciting. congrats to Newgarden and Herta. bummer that Herta didn't get ROTY with two wins and three poles, but consistency and reliability matters
Herta’s star is surely on the rise. Seems to have a similar amount of precocious natural talent as Max Verstappen, but without the latter’s smug, unrepentant attitude and propensity for being mistake-prone.
Ratings for Laguna Seca finale up 40% over last year. Granted they're starting from low ground, but good news nevertheless.
Sure, when the competition is the NFL with its many inept teams, penalties on every down and 10 minute video reviews of every play, Indy Car racing is a damned attractive alternative. The race was enjoyable even if there wasn't a lot of dicing at the pointy end. I was pulling for Felix Rosenqvist to mix it up with the Top 4 but fifth was best he could manage. Great race for him after Saturday's disappointment in qualifying. Bodes well for Indy Car. An impressive lineup of rookies this year, competition between four of the top veterans for the championship went right down to the last race. BHW
It's also nice when you see minnow teams like Dale Coyne being able to, at least occasionally, mix it up with the big guys. That's an impossibility in F1. If you're not Mercedes, Ferrari or Red Bull your chances of winning, or even a podium, are nil.
True enuff. Ain't the variety of venues great? Hi-tech, low tech; open wheel, sportscars; stock cars, prototypes. It's all awesome. Sumpin' for everyone. Lucky me....I enjoy it all. Some more than others , but, all nonetheless. (edit...I lied. I just can't get into FE, try as I have... )
'Hear ya'. Seriously, I'd rather watch kids race (not bumpin' and bangin') 3 1/2 horse Briggs & Stratton go-karts than FE.
Has Newgarden's second Indy Car championship fueled any more F-1 speculation? That plumb Williams seat just opened... BHW
he spent a lot of time in his early career in FF, Formula Audi, GP3, etc. so yes I do think he has, or had, those aspirations. but you'd have to be bat **** crazy to trade a Penske IndyCar ride for a ride with Williams (or half a dozen other F1 teams).
Le'ssee.....spec IndyCar = F1 seat...? Uhhhhhhhh..........no. CART (pre split)?.....I woulda' said sorta' yes. Two championships in CTIC (Coin Toss IndyCar) (with Penske no less) is hardly indicative of F1 level driving. Again, not knockin' IRL, I enjoy it for what it is. (I play the wheel and roll the dice on occasion too, even though I prefer blackjack....). 'Just honest evaluation.
