Great summation of the Corvette design history in that article. The Hellcat by comparison has a much larger frontal area to work with for airflow management.
Putting the engine behind the driver creates a whole new set of engineering problems compared to a front engine design. Ferrari engineering used on the Pista is amazing.
The ZR1 is the final edition of a Supercharger equipped Corvette engine.
Ferrari has created a bold target with the Pista. Hopefully the C8 will do a better job of getting all that power to the ground than the ZR1 Corvette currently does. Traction is now the Corvette ZR1's achilles heel.

According to their editor Sam Smith, the whole story and the test results will be in the next issue of the magazine. That'll be the December-January issue.

Are there any R&T subscribers here? :)

For sale and sitting?! Maybe for $300,000 over sticker they’re sitting. Surely not at or anywhere near sticker. $490,000-$619,000 on Porsche website nationwide.

I also love the Pista, but saying there are more than a few GT2RS for sale and sitting implies they are sitting at sticker not sitting at $200,000-$300,000 premiums over sticker as they actually are.

I do not foresee the Pista selling for $200,000-$300,000 over sticker.

I didnt imply anything, that is your takeaway. Yes they are asking well over list for the GT2RS but they arent moving and the prices will come down to reality in the near term.

I agree with you on the Pista but for me I would still prefer to have it vs. the GT2RS especially for the same money.

Many turns track, the Porsche should do better but too close to assume one is faster than the other. It's not just the car, driver, track conditions, lighting, tire conditions...many unknown factors.

I wouldn't underestimate the 2rs - i'm totally floored just how capable it is and as much as I was expecting Pista to beat it I'm no longer holding out that candle. If Pista is only 1.5 sec slower then it has nothing to be ashamed of. I'm sure Pista delivers in other ways...

Pista would be at least nearly as fast as the GT2RS on a track. And on a straight line much faster than the Porsche. :)

  9. Really?

Do you have a source to back up those claims?

Well so far it doesn't look promising for Pista. No doubt an exciting car but a 2rs beater? From personal experience I have my doubts. The 2rs's 1.5 sec advantage on a semi dry track also does not bode well for Pista taking a dry circuit win.

Do you really think the Porsche is faster than the Ferrari in a straight line? :p

There are a few members that have both the 2RS and the Pista already delivered, with limited reviews on RL.

There was a video posted where a 720 and 2rs were racing in a straight line and the 2rs won. 2rs is super fast. Would not underestimate it.

I have seen a few video's of the 720 vs GT2RS in a drag race - GT2RS has a traction advantage initially (due to where the engine is) but the 720s quickly catches and passes it. From a roll the 720s monsters the GT2RS

    That 720s is ridiculously quick

I'm not a drag race fan, but I would expect the pista to outrun the 2rs, and the 720 to beat the pista.

^Yep watch from 8:30 on where the 2rs owns the 720.

The results in this vid are varied and I suspect mainly bc the 720 can't sustain wot pulls without going into some form of limp mode. The 2rs OTOH can do wot pulls all day long in any temp. Even when the 720 pulled the 2rs it crawled away - hardly ran away - so no huge difference there. I know which one I would rely on to take to the track ;).

With Pista it (may) out pull the 2rs from a roll (having the extra 30hp) but from from a dig the 2rs will take it down for sure. I guess we will have to wait for the results on that but the circuit time looks like it will go to 2rs. Reliability/durability, same deal.

    Meaning?

I can assure it won't be sold under....well certainly not from what I've seen. All over....even used.
Frankly anyone to get allocation and to sell is an idiot, has no idea how to drive it, or both.

Why 3 months? The 3 for sale are all over sticker at the least 100K and one of those is used. Plenty of allocations available? Where? Talk is cheap - as per usual.

Pretty reasonable spec with Weisach is about $760k OTR. 3 months is 2019 - new year new price imo. PM me and I will put you onto my bud who just picked up a 3RS and his dealer has allocations apparently
