I agree. Ban it all. One fixed front wing consisting of a single piece, same with the back. Allow three elevation and angle changes during practice and qualifying and then the car is locked in for the race. No aero devices attached to the body between the two wings. The body has to do the work itself.

Can you share the source to the pictures? I would love to have the full resolution of these pics.

What's facinating is that most of those crazy designs in the upper element and outter edge near the endplate were to control the airflow around and over the front tire.

So basically an F1 car from the mid to late 70s?

Here's Part1 and Part 2 of 3d airflow(2018 F1 car) with Scarbs and Willem Toet (aerodynamicist) if you haven't seen them already.

    F1 airflow explained - part 1

    F1 airflow explained - part 2

Yeah...early eighties was good too. Loved the sounds of all the different engines at the Long Beach Grand Prix...the Matra 12, the Ferrari 12, the Alfa 12, the Cosworth V8, the Renault Turbo V6...never hear anyone talk about the sound difference between the hybrid engine...all just like microwave ovens.
