An email was sent out a month or so ago to all who signed up for the track informing us about a recent legal ruling that the track lost and that a 92 dba limit would be strictly enforced. The email explained that all challenge cars and maybe even stock Scud/speciale/Pista could have problems meeting the standard and would be warned once and second time would be removed from the event! Needless to say, myself and another friend cancelled (FCA refunded our money) as we both run challenge cars that will not be anywhere close to 92 dba. Consequently, I don’t think there will be anything interesting running the track other than normal street cars! I will still be attending to judge the concours, but will be leaving the next morning given this last minute fiasco

Not just the city. Every house owner nearby. Who was first? Track our house owners? Always the same story. A typical tragedy.
No wonder did Lawrence Stroll want to get rid of the track asap. The track as such is fabulous and has lots of great history.

    Texas!
Losing this track would be a tragedy. Everybody needs to run Mt. Tremblant once.

With all due respect Marcel, but if wiki is to be believed, the area had been inhabited long before cars were ever common.
Then, in 1930s, someone decided to build a ski resort which led to area becoming popular vacation and eventually year-round residency for many.
Track wasn’t constructed until ‘60s, leading to further (local) population growth, …

… but as history has shown us, countless* other tracks have come and gone in similar fashion.

While I’m personally not into racing, it seems (motor vehicle) race tracks and surrounding population growth tend go hand in hand, eventually leading to this and only way I can see to prevent tracks becoming nuisance is to build them on large enough private land with minimal, if any, chance for nearby population growth. Catch-22

    * What happened to Keimola, Mas-du-Clos, Riverside, etc...

... and Laguna Seca won't be too far behind. :(

Laguna is already having trouble. Has for years. 1st to require mufflers at least in California.
Interesting when you consider it used to be adjacent to the Army artillery range.

I recall John Giordano who had trucked his 512S, his Daytona GR4 and his 275 GTB from NY to Laguna for Monterey 1994 only to be told then and there he could not do the test day(s) due to noise restrictions...he sued.

I knew when they started racing Mazda RX3's and their incredible noise levels in the early 70's mufflers were coming. I think it was 2 years later that noise levels at Laguna were implemented. There were not even that many homes around at the time.

Airports generally bring much more value to a community and have much more clout than race tracks. Can anyone here give us an example of an airport winning that argument?

Courts are simply not about justice. Its the way it is. Shooting ranges are in the same situation, even here in Texas.

    John,

Yes it is Mario but not the one that I think you are referring to :) The Mario in your photo is actively involved in our local FCA Chapter and has been integral to the planning of this year's event at Mt. Tremblant. No Indy or F1 victories that I am aware of :)

Hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable time.

    Best Regards,
    Paul
