    Who:     Ferrari Club DFW Chapter & Ferrari Chat Members
    What: Halloween Weekend Event
    When: Friday October 28th - Sunday October 30th
    Where: Jefferson Texas
    Cost: $1,000 per couple ( That only $500 pp for a 3 day weekend! )

    Etc: We will be meeting up at Boardwalk Ferrari in Plano to start off our morning drive to Jefferson Texas. We will stop along the way for lunch and rest room break. We will arrive in Jefferson early afternoon, where we will check in to The Historic Jefferson Hotel. After a brief tour, everyone will settle in and get ready for an early dinner.

    Saturday morning will start off with a drive expected to return back in Jefferson in time for lunch. After lunch we have several options available for the group, including participating in the towns Trunk or Treat show off main street, window shopping / antiquing, visiting one of many town museums, or just hanging out and taking it easy! Saturday evening we will meet again for an early dinner before retreating to our rooms to get ready for the nights costume party! The Historic Jefferson Hotel is partnering with FCADFW for the costume party where adult drinks, snacks, contests, and prizes will be enjoyed by all!

    Sunday morning will be a lazy morning, sleep in as long as you'd like, before heading back to Dallas on your own schedule.

    There are only 19 rooms available for this event and the only way to register is through the FCA DFW portal!

    A BIG thank you to all the members, their significant others and guests that joined us for a rainy & wet Halloween weekend in Jefferson TX!


    We met at Boardwalk Ferrari Friday morning, where after some quick introductions, last minute lug bolt checks, and windshield wiper function tests, we held a brief driver meeting to go over some details. With full tanks and route notes in hand, we headed East. First stop Bubba’s Fat Burger in Gilmer. We were met in Gilmer by the local Sheriff who to 99% of us thought for sure we were getting no front plate tickets… luckily, he just wanted to see the cars close up! Bubba had a little bit of everything fried on the table when we arrived, pickles, corn fritters, okra, and more! Burgers and fries were close behind, an hour later were we off again to Jefferson. Driving in the rain the entire time kept speed low, but didn’t keep us from enjoying the rolling hills and switchbacks East Texas is known for.


    Upon arrival at The Jefferson Hotel, we were given a tour of the hotel, shown the theater room, ballroom, and a few hidden features. We headed to dinner at 1852 on Austin, where unbeknownst to the group, the restaurant had created their own seating chart… Which worked out well, grouping members that may have not otherwise sat together a change to break the ice and share stories. Everyone met back at the hotel for after dinner drinks and watched videos taken at the hotel of oddities and mysterious experiences over the past several months. Shawn R. gave tours up to the “disappointment room“ for those brave enough to head up into the attic!


    Saturday morning, some members slept in, others found breakfast at one of the several breakfast shops in town, while ALL of the Ferrari drivers were in their cars and idling, eagerly awaiting the 9am start time for the Saturday Morning Drive around Lake O the Pines! Yes, even when raining, our diehard members were ready for more! California T, F8, 488’s, 458, F430’s, even a 355 all kept together for a great fall morning of driving! We made it back in time for quick bathroom breaks and then a short walk over to lunch at Kitt’s Kornbread & Pie Bar, who opened early just for our group. Sandwiches, Frito Pie, Soups and drinks… and oh yeah, pie for all!


    Our surprise Saturday afternoon activities fell through, a tour of what was left of Mr. Ponders offsite collection of cars and automobile memorabilia, the train ride, the boat tour, even the maple syrup plant manager turned us away… not to be discouraged, we put our head together and came up with an impromptu Cavallino hunt. Members teamed up to locate over 65 Cavallinos strategically placed in and around downtown Jefferson business.. in and around points of interest, even randomly along the sidewalk in planters. The good news is we had a clear winner, the bad news is there are still a dozen un-found Cavallinos still there! So, if you find yourself in downtown Jefferson, keep an eye out! Congratulations to Alex & Tara S. and teammates Ed & Margret N. for locating 18 Cavallinos in the wild! They will be presented awards during the Christmas party in December!


    Saturday dinner, one of the largest charcuterie boards we’ve ever seen greeted us as we arrived. As soon as dinner was over, everyone made it back to the hotel to get ready for the evening. Some of the most creative costumes made it to the theater and party room. Drinks and snacks were enjoyed while everyone was trying to find their favorite costume and couples. Judging was by crowd applause and many left with trophies and gifts courtesy of the DeVance’s! As the night went on, some braved tours with Shawn R, others went up to the balcony for cigars and drinks, some danced, a lot shared stories, and a few called it an early night…. But everyone seemed to have had a great night.


    Sunday morning, Ferrari engines could be heard cold starting in front of the hotel as members headed back to Dallas. Some slept in while others made it to breakfast. Everyone made it back to Dallas in one piece, and yes, Sunday late afternoon was the first clear sky of the weekend!


    Thank you to my co-pilot Pantea for keeping me on route and on time. Thank you to Chris & Jennifer W for working sweeper for most of the weekend. Thank you to Matt & Dana D. for putting the Costume party together, awards, and all. And last but certainly not least, Shawn R for coming up with the outside the box idea that has resulted in two years’ worth of great Halloween fun!
