Glad I checked back in on this thread. What shop? I'm within 4hrs of Raleigh and that's a really fair price, got a vehicle I may want to wrap later this year. Can you pass along the name of the shop, please?
did you order it long ago? (if so, how long ago) Or are you saying you literally shopped and found one available new at msrp right now? (if so, please pm the dealer and tips on how to do that!)
Nope, friend texted me that his local dealership just got it delivered and the buyer flaked. Called them and left deposit, wired funds next day, it’s on a transport truck to me now.
Have had PPF loft clear on a Ferrari, Porsche and BMW. I’ll never use PPF again, just ceramic coating for me.
how does ceramic coating protect from rock chips? this will be a semi daily driver. and what didnt you like about the ppf?
The PPF when removed in 3-5 years after install lifted the clear coat of the paint. If daily driven it’s expected to have and show some signs of a daily driven car.
Only way ppf removes paint is if it was glued down, the car was repainted poorly or the car was very old.
Not included. Not necessary but I've always done it. There are DIY products. They don't last as long as professional ones. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
You will see no discernable difference with the film. In fact the car can be wet sanded and unfinished and with the application of film you would never know. It's a waste but some feel it's a requirement.
If you track your car, you’ll be far better off if you PPF the high impact areas. Definitely not a waste….unless you don’t mind repainting your car from time to time.
Many of the newer films have ceramic on them already (STEK is a common one). That said, ceramics are a huge money maker for shops so they love to add $1200-1500 for an easy application of this stuff. The films now have tons of gloss and are so hydrophobic so I think it’s a waste of $. I do enough cars yearly with my shop that they generally just throw the coating in for free since they always have 1/2 opened bottles from other cars. On plain paint the ceramics make a huge difference but on film not so much IMO.
