Even the nefarious plot to slow down Max a bit at the start by having the Eldorado Biarritz Caddy deposit engine oil on the left side of the starting grid was unsuccessful. Altogether it was an exciting race for a change and very interesting to listen to Max, Sergio and Charles chatting in the backseat of the RR SUV. Something has to be done to avoid having such a negative impact on workers who must figure out how to navigate around the F1 locations in order to earn a living. Without them Vegas would not attract millionis of visitors and multi-million of $$$$.

In some countries GPs are state sponsored, so money is no object.
That's the case for the Middle East or the Far East, and ex-communist countries like Russia, Azerbijan or Hungary.
Here the fees are absorbed in the state's budget to promote the country.

In other countries, private promoters foot the bill themselves, and the fees are a huge part of the overall cost.
To have a GP, it has to be financially viable and if the fees are too high, the promoter wouldn't even break even.
European circuits can't sell tickets at inflated price like they do in the US; the public would resist it, and that would end up with poor attendance and commercial loss. Case with Paul Ricard, incidently.

100% agreed. F- 1 has always been ( at least from the 50s to the 90's ) a connoisseur / serious racing series.... even after 2000 it was still popular but not NASCAR vulgar. Vegas is just an orgy of excess on every Tuesday night ... why does F1 have to associate with that? I will admit there are three things I like in Vegas: Spa at Caesar's, Joel Robochon restaurant, and leaving.

Sometimes they have posted driver reaction times to lights out, and it seems Charles is slower than Max.

I've been thinking about Max as a driver, and I cant help but to think of lack of sportsmanship, lack of class, lack if stature, lack of maturity, and probably lack of other qualities as well. Just being an excellet driver is not enough to be a 3x world champion. The guy is capable of commiting an aggressive act, or move against another driver, knowing in real time that the penalty he may incuur, is less harmfull than the illegal move he just made. He knew pushing Charles off the track could cost him 5 seconda, and he indeed served it 16 laps later (!), making this joke of a pennalty, an actual advantegeous move, thanks to the current ( and stupid) FIA rules book.
I sincerely hope Fred can sue FIA and receives several Millions in compensarion for the damage caused by incompetence.
I sincerely hope SF will reach 2nd in construction championsip in Abu Dabi and steals another $20 million from Toto the shark
    And....
I sincerely hope both Charles and Carlos learn from this and starr pushing Max off the track too and pay the 5 sec penalty many many laps later during a yellow flag. Cheers

I am getting a lot of reports from locals that the Strip resort workers made a killing in tips this last week. All F1. Someone I know made 11k in one night being a dealer at the Cosmo. Normally he gets $1k.

He’s not complaining about F1 anymore.

The FIA is not liable for the damage caused to Sainz's car because of a faulty water valve. It's the organizers whom are liable for such damages but most notably the insurance company whom the organizers hired. The compensation will come from the insurance company. So Ferrari's lawyers will talk to the insurance lawyers and present them a bill for track negligence that incurred damage to Sainz's car. Fyi.

That's the thing. You got both. You got all the car stuff and the ridiculous excess that is F1. This isn't Hesketh racing and James Hunt anymore.
I was at Resort World and Mclaren was there so they had a car display, Alpine at Ventian, Alfa at Aria etc.

My waiter Monday (after the race) said he was making $70/hr. and huge tips. He says next year there is going to be a fight to get to work the F1 race. He was happy to serve us!

This year many resorts paid workers extra or had special lucky draws to get workers to want to show up at work. They feared they would bail not wanting the travel headache. Turns out there was no issue in employees getting to work. Good planning.

There were overtakes, high speeds, and tires on the RBs looked curious, maybe something to take note of. Alpine is my underdog team and they looked great, Ocon's attitude aside.

First year, street track, growing pains, but overall a party. Next year will be interesting. Loved Max's Elvis jumpsuit.

It's been discussed several times now, but here we go again:

Track was desperately cold and there was NO grip. Add to the fact that some old cadillac dumped all it's oil right as well.
Alonso braked in the same spot and ended up going through the corner backwards, severly impeding a few drivers.
Max was Alongside Leclerc so it's not as if it was a desperate divebomb. Leclerc squeezed him as allowed.

Then we come to the fact that Max indeed recieved the 5 second penalty, which actually goes against what we've seen since normally such a move will remain unpenalized since he was alongside and especially since it was lap 1, T1 (that said I do think the FIA should've acted a lot quicker and ordered the place to be given back virtually instantly). As it happened, Leclerc stuck close to Max and actually overtook him, and Max still had to serve his penalty.

Had the FIA punished max earlier and told him to give the place back, he probably would've overtaken Leclerc a lap or 2 later anyways, but wouldn't have the 5 seconds...which after his stop, meant he would pretty much have come out ahead of Leclerc, certainly ahead of Russell, which meant Russell couldn't crash into Max nor give him the damage he carried the rest of the race.

The 5 seconds penalty was pretty much the biggest reason why Leclerc was in the race to begin with as the Ferrari was not very good on the hards at all (in contrast, the Red bull was quite bad on the mediums).

Max has made the ''go as wide as the rules possibly allow'' move many times but I'm 100% convinced that Vegas was not intentional to go this wide as it would disadvantage him significantly as well because it would allow several drivers to overtake them, but here we can see that the first driver behind them making the corner without any obstruction...couldn't take any advantage because he had no grip at all.

Finally, first thing Max said to Charles when he got out of the car was ''sorry for T1''

Don't forget Lando's mishap as well. He was all by himself when he "slipped" on the track and lost the rear end.

Verstappen is a good driver and a nice guy. a lack of class? really? sportsmanship? again really? Formula one as you have now stated is filled with Go Kart mentality of pushing people off the track. That has never been the mantra in F-1 and that thinking will eventually kill someone. Verstappen is just behaving like all his peers... to be a champion you have to be aggressive, selfish, and have confidence ... he has all that in spades.

Ah...race day was the warmest since Thursday. These guys Race in rain. This 55F tarmac was nothing. It was one more facet of their skill level. Who could maximize while riding the fine line of firing up their tires like finding grip in the rain.

Well, blame track design on Tilke, then the prep on the locals, and the lack of rubber on no F2/cup races before F1. It seems like for the first year the best was made of the situation but it should have been a warmer night like a Sept/Oct. Overall the event was great fun and I look forward to getting into a routine, better pricing, more ancillary events and a wider audience.

You Max fan boys can try and justify his actions all you want, but he comes accross (to me) as a vicious killer/driver with excellent skills but unworthy of multiple world championships. Its hard to say this but I have more respect for Lulu than I do for Max.
