Alonso's last chance for 33. IF he doesn't get it here, there's no chance for the rest of the season.
so so hard to tell. Seems to me the Mercedes/Ferrari/Aston/Mclaren bundle is so tight it doesn't just depend on the type of track, but also asphalt, tyre compounds for the week, temperature and of course driver adaptability. Ferrari did well in Zandvoort despite on paper it not suiting Ferrari at all.
https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/singapore-f1-track-changes-set-to-help-brakes-and-tyres/10518650/ Due to construction work, the sequence of four near 90-degree corners towards the end of the lap which led the track under a grandstand has been removed for this year's race. In its place is a new, longer straight section that leads from the gentle left-hander at Turn 15 to the tight right-hander at what used to be Turn 20, but is now Turn 16. As well as creating a much quicker lap time, the changes reduce the demand on brakes and will also help drivers to keep the tyres alive over a full lap. "I think it's going to be easier on the tyres because all the braking and traction zones and the degradation that comes from that should just be a bit easier," Aston Martin performance director Tom McCullough told Autosport. "Normally what happened was, by the end of the lap, because there was not a lot of recovery time for the tyres, your rears, in particular, were absolutely stinking hot on the old layout. "What this will do is allow them to cool a bit, and your tyres won't be as bad in these last few corners. So actually it makes life easier I think from the tyre side. "You are still going to be probably at max downforce around the circuit due to everything else, that's not going to really change too much."

AlphaTauri is heading to Singapore this week with a "big upgrade" in its crates for its AT04, one directly inspired by the successful aero concept exploited by its sister outfit Red Bull Racing.
The pit tunnel? I quite liked that and I don't really recall in recent memory of anyone crashing going through.
Well ESPN is back up and working, plus I subscribed to F1, so I'll watch the race simultaneously on the tv and my computer and see what I like the best. I can later watch the F1 version on Roku as well. I get the feeling that Ferrari will just coast through the rest of the season and let the drivers learn to live with it.
At this point of the season, after the Italian GP, only 4 drivers only can mathematically win the 2023 championship. Only Verstappen, Perez, Alonso and Hamilton are still in the hunt. All the others, including Sainz and Leclerc, Russell, and else have been eliminated. Sobering thought ... Most teams should now concentrate their precious resources on their 2024 cars.
Most if not all teams have moved on to 2024! Effectively we have an accounting-engineering championship that is 9 races long. Then 13 races of test and preparation for next year!
With the budget cap, the FIA has tried to fit a square peg in a round hole. That never works. Liberty stretches the championship with more GPs, when half of them could prove irrelevant to the result.
