There are a couple of issues with that. Since F1 is not a spec series, imagine it was like in 2014-16 when literally only one team had a shot at pole. That devalues that point tremendously. Also, we see teams messing around with the FL point as it is. Imagine Oscar is forced to slow down to ensure he doesn't beat Lando for pole, just so Norris can get that point.
Maybe Lando should have put enough distance between himself and Max (pit delta at Singapore is 28sec) so Lando could pit and put on some fresh softs and go for the FL to get that extra point. That's a suggestion btw.
100% If McLaren and Lando were so concerned over that extra point then they should have done what it takes to get it.
