Anyone ever heard of these? Nankang CX-668 Tire 1 New Nanknang CX 668 Tire 205 70 14 205 70R14 2057014 95H | eBay They claim to be "H" rated like the Sumi HTR 200s were.
The manufacturer is mispelled in the item above. It should be Nankang. The tire rating shows 95H. It also says it fits a 6" wide wheel, and mine are 7.5 inchs wide, so I don't know if they will fit.
Heard of the company...they make cheap/inexpensive tires. These are by no means a performance tire. They may be "new", but make sure you check the manufacture date, could be old stock.
A few months ago while search for 14 inch tires for the GTB I found reference to a Chinese tire company that was making V rated tires. Not expecting a great tire but one could be surprised and the price was worth the experiment. I thought the name started with an 'A'. But being a dumb arse I did not write it down or bookmark the page. Haven't been able to find it since. Ring a bell for anyone?
I found these on another site for $59 each, so yes they are very cheap tires. So were the sumitomo htr 200s, and I thought they were a great tire for me, but that was years ago. I noticed this tire because I have not seen a 205/70r14 with H rating for under $200 since Sumi stoped producing the 200s. They still make the T4 in that size, but that is only T rated. If anyone else knows a decent 205/70r14 for less than the Vredstein or xwx please pipe in.
I just think my life is a little more important to put Michelin for 588 a tire over 59. I just put the xwx on my car last week - something about driving on the highway with my only son doing 70 miles an hour on proven engineered tires for a Ferrari as opposed to something that is the absolute cheapest tire you could possible buy. Therefore, I think $ 3,500 for tires are cheaper than a 10k funeral I'm over blowing it of course, but I just couldn't trust my only life with the CHEAPEST tires made on a Ferrari , just doesn't seem to smart to me.
If that is your budget, then that's your budget. If you can afford $1000 to $1500, then buy some 16" Superformance (used if you can find some) and it'll open a whole new bunch of tires for you. AND, they'll start at under $100/tire.
Westlake tires are made in China at the Hangzhou Zhongce Rubber Co. They had a recall issue back in 2007 for some models. Apparrently that problem is fixed. They make a model tire SV 308 lol. cool tread pattern too
I'm finding hard to understand how the presence of a speed rating is important but the fact that it is a no name cheapo brand on a significant piece of performance and safety equipment is all but ignored. Fact is if you want 14" tires it is Verdstein or Michelin. Pay up or buy different rims. Big Red is right that cheaping out on tires is not only dangerous but dulls down a lot of the performance engineering you buy into when getting a Ferrari. The very fact you own a Ferrari means you are not among the group of people who see cars as transportation and little more. Buying lousy tires just seems to go against the mantra of an enthusiast as you are not a savvy consumer but rather de-tuning your car's performance.
