Anyone know where I can get 206 engine manuals ? in the next few weeks I will be pulling my motor and rebuilding it. It has ok (not great) compression and runs great but smokes and has low oil pressure, I would have tried the valves but the low oil pressure tells me the bottom end is worn out. I have gotten from Dave here the 246 manuals and from "The Other Dino" club gotten some specs on the 206 but I cant seem to find a 206 engine manual, just bits and pieces of specs. Didn't Ferrari make a manual for the 206 ?

Fiat published a fairly comprehensive guide to rebuild the 206 engine: "Fiat Dino Roadster - Coupe: Specifications and Features, Servicing instructions"
along with the "Fiat Dino Spider and Coupe Parts Manual" and "Fiat Dino Coupe Instruction Book" the three give enough information to rebuild the engine without problems.

There have been reprints available on ebay and other points on the internet of all three manuals ... not necessarly cheap, but available. You might try to "Google" Fiat Dino manuals to see what comes up.

The parts manual has been for sale off and on at eBay ... this copy may lack the parts numbers reference, but the break-out drawings of parts is good.

If you have not rebuilt a "Ferrari" engine before, please understand that the factory seemed to presuppose that the mechanic already knows and understands about 50% of the information so they did not bother to print instructions for taking this part out or that part off ... for those of us accustomed to the comprehensive manuals available for Chevrolet or Ford the workshop manuals seem devoid of information.

Disassembly and re-assembly can be done by following the drawings in the "Parts Manual" and carefuly laying out of the parts taken off.

Not really as hard as it may seem at first; hell, I've done it and I'm an absolute idiot!

I'll look around for available manuals and let you know.

    Best Wishes

An update on my last post:

    Try Books4cars.com

    http://www.books4cars.com/result1~findmake~Fiat~imageField.x~116~imageField.y~65~offset~100.htm

    look down to:

67-69 2L Features and service manual for coupe and spyder in English $49.95

67-69 2L Coupe Owners manual in English $39.95

Fiatparts.com lists the parts manual as available.

    http://www.fiatparts.com/catalog.htm

you may have to email them to verify availability of the manual for your car and to get price quote.

If you don't have these books, I would think that they would be greatly helpful in your rebuild

    Best wishes

Thanks, I will look into those books. I was more worried about specs, etc. than how to take it apart. Things like torque settings and clearances based on your recommendation those books should handle it. Didn't Ferrari make up a manual for the 206 Dino though ? it never hurts to have too much documentation :)
