I recognize the car in post #26 as it was featured on "Legendary Motor Cars" not long ago. They bought the car as a virtual total as the car caught fire in a race and destroyed the body but not the frame. I would be quite certain that they have significant documentation related to the 206. Also, a company here in the Detroit area makes reproductions of the 206. Fran at "Race Car Recreations" has showed me their version which is very accurate to the original. They might have bits useful to you or at least information relative to your restoration.

As usual, great work on a beautiful car.

    Jeff

PS. Let me know if you need any machined parts, I'd be glad to help.

Post #26 = chassis #026... The Dino caught fire at the Nürburgring in 1967. Rebuilt by Corrado Cupellini. And a photo with the new interior.

    Jon,

Your shop looks like Dino heaven!!! Could you tell us more about the Veglia connection? Will they make new Dino instruments based on the originals?

I went through Saxonparts.com. They're located in the Netherlands. Most of the time it's Dino heaven but occasionally Dino hell!!!

I have a 206SP copy. It was copied directly from Nick Mason's (?).

The body is fibre glass. The engine is a 2L all alloy converted to 2.3L using Superformance bits, larger valves etc. and 2.4L pistons. It's dry sumped. Brakes are Brembos from an Alpha. Carbs from a 308. The cams are not hot, and 217hp was delivered in dyno testing, which is about right for the car. Transaxle is a Renault.

The car was built in Australia in the 90's.

My zip file is too big.

These photos are copyright from the shop that had it for sale at one point, so no commercial use.

Moving along with progress on the 206. Mostly fitting an altering right now. As reported I'm using a Fiat Dino 2.0 Engine. We changed it to dry sump, crank trigger ignition and other changes. There was a lot of work to mate it up with transmission. We moved the engine 2" to the rear so we could fit the engine. Custom oil pan had to be made and a custom spacer to mate engine with transmission. We made custom headers and a muffler so it can be driven on the street. The wheels were custom made and picked up from powder coating today. I got a new larger radiator to account for it being driven on the street. The fuel tanks were restored with new bladders and new stainless steel straps. New windshield will be done next week and new custom Veglia gauges are on there way. I need a set of rear 206 calipers which I haven't found yet and I'm doing inboard brakes as original. Next engine get cosmetic restoration, transmission rebuilt with appropriate gears for street driving and the framed media blasted and powder coated. A very fun project so far!

I have a question, are you modifying to fit a typical Dino engine or because this creation had a specific engine built around it?

I got the car with no motor. As I was going to use for street use I thought it better to have a Dino street motor rather than a race motor. That's why I'm using a Fiat Dino motor. The frame had to only be slightly modified to fit the motor

Nope, only 2 valves. 4 Valves were introduced roughly like 10 years after the 206...

Are these new production or a restoration?

Any special plans in how the colors are going to be redone. :)
