    has one for sale.

other than their rarity, what is really great about the 206 vs the 246?

i have too many dino's. i would, at some point, like to have a 206 just for collection purposes. the "targa" 206 is a cool car, but outside of that, what reason would one have one of these over a 246?

frankly, i would like to admit i know all when it comes to dino's, but the 206's are still a bit of a mystery to me in terms of ownership.

how many 206 gt owners are f-chatter's?

    aloha from maui.....I own 206 GT #00350
as for the 206 yellow targa car,,,,,they didn't come as targas.....someone cut the roof........also i don't think they came with electric windows until after 1970 so I would check that out. i saw many things that were not original on that car so have someone inspect any 206 you want to buy who knows 206's!! They are aluminum and don't rust..which is great for hawaii. They handle quicker that a 246 (imo) and are a bare bones street legal race car from the 60's. I've driven 246's and prefer the sound and handling of my 206......let alone the fact that only 150 were made and the engine and body are alloy. Good original ones come up rarely, i havn't seen one since i got mine a year and a half ago besides the yellow one. original parts are near impossible to find. As for prices who knows.........

Here are some points of interest compared to 246s. Production number of 150, collectibility. All aluminum body and engine is also made of special al alloy, more costly compared to 246s. Less HPbut lighter body. Tuning is set for higher rev driving, thus more shrieking sound, also related to hess torque than 246 therefore the car is happier in high rev condition. Overall dimension (length) is a bit shorter, thus got only six vent slits in the enginie hood.Bumpers are thinner and more elegant ? Interior layout is different too except for the 246 Tipo L models which have similar imterors such as passenger side foot rest and hand support, no sdie pockests, etc. The list goes on. Jimmy K. yes it's 2 1/2" shorter and also lower in height than the 246........no radio and the glove box is held by a magnet with a pull strap...no door pockets or other fancy later stuff....wood wheel......outside gas cap.....pistolgrip shift knob

..a real thuroughbred horse for sure......

I am kind of comparing Apples and Aranges here (misspelled that on purpose) but not too far off.

I have driven several 246's and also the 2.4 FIAT Dino and of course lots of miles on my FIAT 2.0. The 2.4 and the 246 feel about the same power wise, so using that theory. The 2.0 seems to be freer revving, just seat of the pants here but the 2.0 seems to rev faster and as a result seems faster. Yes, I know the 2.4 has more power, etc., but the 2.0 just feels faster. The motor makes more noise :) and revs fast and I would assume the 206 would be the same.

On the FIAT version, the 2.4 steering is heavier at low speeds due to the heavier motor but that won't matter with the Ferrari version. But I suppose it could make a difference on the handling.

The 206 has knockoffs which I happen to like the looks of over bolt-on wheels :)

One issue I have heard of on the 206 was a corrosion problem between the alloy body and the steel frame. Ferrari did not always insulate the 2 dissimilar metals as well as they should. I looked at a 206 about 5 years ago and there were some corrosion issues on it, the owner of the car told me that was not uncommon on the 206. I didn't buy it and I have been sorry ever since, it was minor and I could have fixed it easily.

    +1 on the lightened body.
You really need one to showcase your collection, just not the top chopped one.
