Now you all (too) know that a 208 turbo can go from Holland to Modena, visit the Ferrari factory and come back home... ;)

Probably he did it with the only GTB turbo there is in Holland at present...

Thank you very much, Robin, for your pleasant visit, and nice to meet you!

Hope you all enjoyed staying here, the 1000 miglia, the Maranello and Modena visit: all nice events and places that every Ferrari enthusiast should see at least once.

    ciao

Our visit with 4 other Ferrari's was far more than a great experience, driving via Germany, Austria to Italy and avoiding the highway was already a treat. Once in Italy you can sense the enthousiasm of the Italians who just love to see their own product with strange Dutch yellow licenseplates. Our purpose was to visit & join the Mille Miglia, but we also joined the factory tour in Maranello, lunch @ Ristorante Montana and much more.
Joining the Mille Miglia race from Sirmione to Verona was pure spectacol, these hostorical beautys being driven to the max. Never seen so many excited people watching these beautiful cars. For me it was a pleasure to meet Alberto in Modena, showing my GTB turbo and asking him about his view about my car & performance. Conclusion, car is oke but could perform even better. Therefore on fridayevening Alberto arranged a pitsstop @ Toni's for saturdaymorning as we were on a tight schedule. Once there we met genuine Ferrari mechanics with full knowledge about these rare turbo engines and the location just on the other side of the Ferrari factory.
Mr Toni sr who I estimated >75yrs old arrived in a F40. Inside the workshop a F50, perfectly restored Dino's and my favourite 288GTO. Soon they discovered that the spark plugs were not correct, changed for the originals and of we go to lago di Como. Via Switserland, Liechtenstein, Austria and Germany we arrived after a total trip of 3000km's in Holland. The car is still running great, only the airco needs some attention.
Thanks again to Alberto, hope and trust we will meet again! :)

Glad to hear you arrived at home safe, Robin! 3000 km across Europe with a 30 years old Ferrari and without using motorways, is not so easy to do: not at all.

It's always amazing (and very pleasant) to see (in person) how many foreign enthusiasts come here to visit Modena and our motor valley, expecially during the 1000 miglia week: it looks that half the world is here to attend that race!

Yes, 1000 miglia event is something unique (until those guys of the Ferrari Tribute that are ahead of the 1000 miglia will kill someone for too speeding, and then the race will be erased...) with (i think) a milllion people attending the event day and night alla around Italy.

You pictures show an old man (with very poor driving ability) trying to find the correct driving position in your car and Toni's top mechanic, Vincenzo, servicing your old two liters turbocharged (very nice) scrap... ;)

Hope to meet you againg very soon

    ciao

Great pictures, Robin: thank for sharing: the Arena of Verona with the 100 miglia is fantastic

In the first picture there is the "75+" year old Toni senior: yes, he looks to have 100+ years, but still is in his low sixty, and if he learns you wrote he is 75+, maybe better avoiding to meet him again... :)

I was very glad to hear that also your friends in the other Ferraris of your Dutch group were impressed by the speed gaining quickness the GTB turbo has from 100 to 200 km/h.

    ciao

    Alberto
