Hello all of you. Greetings from Vienna-Austria.
I am new on this page and i thought some guys of you which have experience with the car type 208GT4 can help me to decide to buy an 208GT4 built 1975.
The car is to buy in Austria for 18.900 Euro. technical ok, but some small things on body and electrical need to make, had 119.000km running- the owner said.
Can someone give me a tip for what i should look by this car before i buy.
I should say- i never owned a ferrari- but i think its the dream of every child and guy. So i thought to start with that type- because its rather cheap and the other it has 4 seats.
how is it with spare parts? is the price for that car good or to high?
For help and given experience i am very thankful.
    thanks a lot from mike37 (Vienna-Austria-Europe)

    Hello Mike,
first of all: welcome to the site. There's a load of info here. Just take your time to read and learn!
Regarding the 208 GT 4: this is a great entry-level Ferrari. For more info try to talk to Roel (dino208GT4 here on the site) he owned a very nice one for some time. A lot of info can be found in the 308 forum of this site as well. There's also a buyer's guide here: page:http://www.***********.com/library/guides.php
Hope you can live your dream
    Best

Hi Mike great choice, the dino GT4's are very cool cars.
Roel is the man on this site if you need advice.

But just my opinion, 18,000euros seems quite high for a 119,000km 208GT4.
I would expect a nice 308GT4 to be around that price and they are a bit quicker. It may be that the 208 is worth more because of its rareity but in that case I'd rather go with the 308GT4.

Thanks guys. But the car had only two owners. One in Taly and since 1989 one in Austria. The car is in good condition, technical good. Something for what i should take care? The horsepower is not the real problem, because already i dont want to "kill" the car. Someone of you knows how is it with spareparts.
    Thanks a lot guys.

Last week I looked at one in Belgium for 12.500 euro. It got sold and reappeared for sale again iat another garage. It was a decent car with some TLC needed. http://www.autoscout24.be/nl-be/detail.asp?ts=8376808&id=74208507
Agrred, the 18.000 is a bit on the high side, that's more 308GT 4 and early Mondial region. I don't think the 208 should overprice the 308, as the 308 should be the better car.

mike - i´m living near vienna. i drove a 208GT4 about two years ago and was disappointed. the 2-liter engine is not, what one would expect from a ferrari.
try to find a nice 308GT4 between 20.000,-- and 25.000,-- for a good austrian registered car. maybe you´re unable to register a non - cat car in austria for the first time.
you can send me a a private message with the chassisnumber - maybe i know this certain car and its history.

    Mike,

I am not a technician therefore the first step I took was looking for a specialist. They can advise you, they know the local market and eventually do a PPI (Pre Purchase Inspection) for you. You then also have an adress for regular maintenance.

All this on top of the knowledge of users and technicians you find here.

    Good luck!

    Gijs
