Who else is going on Friday? Anyone know any more details other than what's in the Classiche email? For instance, are we only going to get one shot to drive on the track or will this be something that we get to do throughout the day. I think that it will be fun, no matter what, but I'm highly, highly curious as to what's entailed.
Will I see your F40 again on PCH? I'm definitely going to try and stop by and check out all the F40s.
I am told that the response of F40s has strong. I know of about half-a-dpzen who intend to come, but surely ther must be more... Joe www.joesackey.com
Dear Comrade joe sackey, In England, we deployed forty three F-40's for our celebratory event We only required forty - the other three were spares England has the World Record too And this is a message for all the American contingent of F-40 owners. "Will you please remove all the inertia surrounding your F-40 ownership and provide Joe Sackey with full support for the F-40 event" . . . . . So far, the response has been abysmal. I am considering importing my own car to America thus to support Joe. There are more than two hundred F-40's in The United States of America and presently there are but a mere four committed to the event. Disgraceful. With kind regards, 512 Tea Are
If you're on PCH at the same time, for sure. I most definitely will be making a few jaunts down my favourite piece of road in the world.
Just a small clarification if I may: The "Exclusive 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Ferrari F40" as it is officially titled is soley the creation of our official importer and concessionaire Ferrari North America. I have nothing to do with the planning and/or organizsation of this event and I was as surprised (albeit pleasantly so) as any F40 owner that the event was announced at such short notice to its actual date (less than a month). I am simply an owner who plans to attend, but I realise that the last-minute nature of its announcement will severely restrict the number of cars that can attend. That said, Im hopeful we will see a nice turnout of cars. I am told by FNA that this event is ONLY for F40 owners who can bring their cars, but this is not restricted to USA cars so our freinds in Europe can indeed ship their F40s over to participate and are encouraged to do so. It looks like the Ferrari specific stuff is at the end of the day. I think there was a conflict between rival watch sponsors Rolex vs. Panerai(?) I may do the Concorso early in the morning, then go to Laguna Seca. Just received this from Ferrari Support: Below you will find the provisional schedule of the events for Friday, August 17th, 2007. Saturday, August 18th and Sunday, August 19th are geared more towards the Monterey Historic Automobile Races, and you are certainly welcome to attend. Friday, August 17th: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm: Monterey Historic Races practice All day: Ferrari Classiche Exhibit - Ferrari Island All day: Ferrari Grandstand - Ferrari Island All day: Ferrari Hospitality Area - Ferrari Island Breakfast Lunch Refreshments Ferrari specific events* 4:00 pm: F40 Parade Laps 4:30 pm: Ferrari Historic Challenge - Drum Class Race 5:00 pm: Ferrari Historic Challenge - Disc Class Race *-Times are subject to change We look forward to seeing you and your F40 for the 20th anniversary celebration! With warmest regards,
As far as Fchat members are concerned I see the following: 1) Me 2) Joe 3) Sherpa 4) Mark Any other Fchat members attending with F40s? Also, are you guys planning on driving your cars in on Friday or coming in on Thursday? I spoke with Ferrari of NA and they told me to bring the car over on Thursday before 5pm. Wondering what everyone else heard. Mark - I'll be at Concorso on Friday until around 1pm. We should try to hook up.
I know Frefan is also booked, as is Ruf MD (tentative I think), but I also know of about 5 non-FChat people supposedly bringing cars now... FNA told me response has been "good", whatever that means. Did they say why they want your car there on Thursday? I think I will drive to Laguna Seca Friday morning. Joe www.joesackey.com
I asked them if I could bring it on Thursday and they said "yes" as long as it was before 5pm. I am showing my Stradale at Concorso on Friday so I won't be able to move the F40 then. Trying to do both events is proving to be a logistical challenge (in terms of the movement of cars). Fortunately, it looks like they moved the parade laps from noon to 4pm which makes things a bit easier. I was originally going to be running back and forth between Concorso and Laguna Seca, however, it now appears that I can stay put at Concorso until around 1pm and then head over to the F40 event.
What time are you guys planning to be there on Friday with your F40s? I was originally going to take the car over on Thursday afternoon but am reconsidering that plan.
So if we're supposed to be doing laps at 4p, what time is everyone getting there? EDIT: Jeffrey, I started writing this a while ago but it sat on the computer and only just posted. Just saw your earlier post. Too funny.
I'm planning to squeeze in the Concorso in the morning, with the F40 in the Non-Italian corral. By doing the Non-Italian, I hope to be able to leave the Concorso about noon and drive to Laguna Seca. Hopefully there will not be much outbound traffic from Concorso, and Friday noon into Laguna Seca won't be too bad? Anyone who knows the area, that might be interested in a caravan over from Concorso? They're expecting about 20 F40s. Should be quite a sight. Mark
I was thinking of leaving Concorso about noon too. Traffic should be light. Sherpa23 and I have exchanged cellphones so PM yours and we can arrange to convoy. I know there will be a convoy of almost all the cars back from Laguna Seca back into Carmel as already has been discussed. I heard today of 2 more cars that are coming also.... Ace photog Albert Fattal (the great) is planning to take some excellent images for all and sundry. It should be fun. Joe www.joesackey.com
I'll have my F40 in Monterey but not at FNA's thing See you cruising around Monterey/Carmel Mine has 230 on the side in Yellow
I just pm'd my phone number. Do you have contact info for "Jeffrey"? My car left this morning, I'll be arriving Thursday. Mark
Mark - Sent you a PM. Might be a good idea if we could all decide on a time to depart Concorso. I'm sure we'll see each other there but its unlikely that we'll all be parked in the same area. We could congregate in the parking lot just past the food stands as you're leaving Concorso. Should we say 12 or 12:30? We could then caravan over to Laguna Seca.
There is already an F40 up here hiding under a cover in a parking garage There is also an Enzo hiding near by.
