Update - Germany will be at Hockenheim 2015 German GP to be at Hockenheim and not Nurburgring, Bernie Ecclesone reveals | German Grand Prix | Sky Sports Formula 1
Records are made to be broken, especially when factoring Vettel into the mix. The expansion of the series schedule from 16 or 17 Grands Prix per year to 19 or 20 virtually assures that if one or two top drivers like Hamilton and Vettel can challenge the record books, three or four extra GPs annually doesn't hurt in this regard. It is good business for F-1 and Bernie to have the "next Senna" or "next Schumacher" ascending the ranks as it give something for the media to write about. BHW
this is exactly what airline companies do with seats.....airplane seats 200, they sell 210 counting on 10 giving up....worst case scenario...they will offer $200 for you to catch another flight. same thing.
German Grand Prix in doubt admits Ecclestone - Pitpass.com Political speak or actual issue with the race hinting at larger issues within other circuits. This will be interesting to follow. From SKY "F1 chief tells Sky Sports News HQ Hockenheim doesn't yet have 2015 deal in place either; Ecclestone quips on German race "we’ve got one, it’s called Austria”
Just as Zeltweg is the GP of RB, Hockenheim is the GP of Benz. They owe it to their VIP guests who fill the MB stand
Okay, stupid question as I haven't looked a this for a very long time (like the 70's) - but wasn't it the case that if you were a point scorer in the previous season that you flew for free? Does that still apply? Then it wouldn't really make it much more expensive than a race in Europe. Happy to be corrected. John
