In what countries are the E marks and DOT marks a legal requirement?

Can you use them or are they unsafe and only for display.

I kinda doubt if you'll get an answer for this but here's how I think this works.

I have to wonder if you can use them on the road in some countries? Would they pass MOT in the UK for example?

In the USA no one looks but if something happens and there's a wreck THEN they'll look.

I doubt that there's actually a damn thing wrong with them. I'd be concerend about the production date perhaps?

Why would a major tire manufacturer make these tires to a substandard quality? I think, somehow, they screwed up with the markings and now they're unloading them and attempting to pass ALL the liability on to the customer. That won't work in the USA - deep pockets.

Maybe they should just destroy them?

But if you're running a museum, I know of one large collector who's bought a bunch, it's great.

    My 2 lira ... ;)

    That's perfectly acceptable.

Is the 'Vintage Car Use Only' marking only on one side of the tire or both.
If one side only, then they can be flipped inside out and the visual problem goes away.

As for safety etc I agree that it would be impossible for Pirelli to willfully produce a tire that is defective / sub-par and then make them available for consumer use.
Given the number of high performance Vintage cars that are raced and rallied how would this marking protect them from liability anyway?

If the visual issue can be hidden they become an attractive proposition.

    Regards.
