If I deduct for the TUBI, new cats and two new tires as well as wheel polishing, I figure a that TR major service costs about $15K CAD...........does that guess even come close to the numbers on your work order ?

That's too much money! I had a full service on both my ex-TR and current BB512i with cam belts at an authorized Ferrari dealer for less than $6k each.

I presume that is in USD. We are Canada, everything is +/- 30% more expensive when it is comes to anything to do with Ferrari parts.
Last year I had done out of car complete engine service and clutch kit on my 512TR. Cost was ($12569.03 tax inc) much less than I was quote elsewhere.
included in the work, oils, fluids, drain seals, recharge a/c, battery, timingbelts ($180.00 for both LOL!!!!), complete clutch kit, tensioner rollers, cam seals & rings, gaskets, seals, plugs, filters, exhaust gaskets, belts, oil pressure hoses, hall sensor seal, clamps. All this for replacing the "mandatory bullsh*t ferrari so called service schedule". It' all a crock of sh*t. But what can you do? If you want to own and drive these beautiful cars, it comes with the territory.

    $12569.03 to replace a $180.00 part.

Let me get back to work, so I can finish paying the loan I took out to finance these repairs.LOL

That's an interesting suggestion. I almost think there must be some kind of catch with Customs (or some other government agency) that would prevent this.

It would be interesting to know what it would've cost to ship the car to e.g. WWoC or someone, have all the same work done and have it shipped back?

Obivously there is no time constraint, due to our weather and the fact that its been gone for 2 months already....

    Would this even be possible?

You can ship cars south for repairs......no sweat.......you pay duty and tax on the value of the repair upon return.

If I owned such a beast. I would not bother with the so-called schedule crap. Just drive the sucker and enjoy it. Dam I was selling Subaru's and yes the engines did have dual cams and turbos and guess what "timming belt replacement every 182,000 km and yes a 2.5 L turbo did produce 300hp and 300lbs of torque. Now that is output

I had no choice. I had to change my timing belts due to age and not mileage. It was way overdue (10 years old). I figured that since the engine was out of the car, I might as well take care of everything now. The clutch was still OK but replaced it anyway, replaced the oil pressure hoses which really didn't need. All in all, an out of car engine service on a flat-12 is approx. $7000.00. It's just preventive maintenance. Spent $7000.00 today or be sorry later and spend $50000.00 on a new motor.(if it's even enough).

I am seriously considering the new vette. Drive the hell out of it for 3 years and get everything repaired under warranty. A friend in Florida got his new vette a couple of months ago and told me that it outperforms his 360 in every way possible, except for the attention he gets in his ferrari.

    Guy,
Autobugatti is a great place, they have done work on my Ferraris for the last 10 years. Ed the mechanic is very passionate about his work. The rest of the gang are a bunch of great guys and the prices are very reasonable. My 512tr will be there in a couple of weeks for detailing and a spring inspection.à
Are you getting your TR completely repainted?

You guys gotta help me out here.....512tr these numbers you are talking about are mortifing !!!!

I did belts on mine in 2000 and the clutch in 2001 with all the oils and filters, and plugs and got it waxed on top of that for about 11k cdn. I talked to Tom over the summer as I am getting ready again in the next season or two to do them again and he said 5-6k with no surprises. Where are these numbers coming from ? Routine service yearly only costs me $500-$900 what am I missing here?
