Well, I finally got the Baron finished, or at least as finished as a plane can every be finished. Brought the plane back from Clear Lake, after the new motors had been adjusted, squaws fixed, or some of them fixed. At 5500', full throttle, cowl flaps closed, but egines not leaned to full power, GPS showed 225kts. Had a 5kt tail wind, so it looks like the actual speed will be about 220 kts true, maybe a little more.

This is what wwe did with the motors: overbored to the maximum allowed (can't recall if .10 or .20 over), New Superior Cylinders, roller rockers for the cams, Ram Cam, engines balanced. Actual displacement 535 ci each, up from 520. I'd estimated that the stock power would increase to 315HP per side, but it looks like we got a little more, probably about 325HP. When we change the oil, I'll post pictures of the engines, they look pretty good.

You should be cruising at 200 kts at 6,000 ft just like a brand new one. What do you expect fuel flow to be at 200 kts cruise?

I haven't had time to check the fuel flows because I'm not leaning the motors out, because they haven't started to cool down yet, only about 1 hour on the motors. The new ones cruise about 202 or so, but I think that I've got substantially more power than a new one. Initial climb rates are 2000 - 2500 at 101 kts, which is the best rate speed. Maximum rate at gross per book is 1700/per minute, which is about what I saw before the new motors. I am under gross, but those numbers are at least 400 more than I've ever seen before.

That's a big improvement. Looks like you have one fast Baron there.
