Thanks...I really like that one too! From applying to removal, it's usually 3-5 minutes. It then goes through most of its curing in the first 24 hours (keep it dry during this time), and will even continue to harden and become more brilliant over about a 5-day period. But...you can drive it away after just a few hours from application time.
guys let me tell you something ... Todd & Jason are the best there is. Period. For years (decades now, actually) i've been detailing my own cars. But alas, those days are behind me After long hours of research, a visit to Ohio, and a "test case" on a very special F40 ... I invited Todd & Jason to my place in Austin. So ... they recently spent a week in my "stable", and I'm looking forward to their next visit ... hint, hint Todd, please feel free to post more pics of your AMAZING work If you guys are looking for the absolute BEST, look no further. I know whereof i speak
pretty impressive ! but how does it work? is it a solid coating that you put on like a wrap? or is it a liquid that you spray on? can it be removed? does it affect the original paint underneath?
It's a liquid applied with a pad. I've used it and have mixed feelings. It looks very good but it's also very expensive. I'm not so sure I feel it's worth the cost. I was hoping it would prevent swirl scratches but it's so thin and does not really do that.
sorry, but your thread title reminded me of this: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6PsS-zMgzw]Tommy Boy - Shut Up Richard - YouTube[/ame] (impressive work btw!)
Thank you for the kind words, and for the hospitality during our stay! You have an amazing collection, and we look forward to our next trip. Thank you! It is a liquid that is applied by hand. It cures and hardens, and becomes a brilliant, protective shield that lasts 18-24 months on a daily driver, and makes maintenance easier. It can be removed by machine polishing, and has no affect on the paint underneath. Coatings can reduce swirls, but not prevent them. With proper washing and drying procedures and tools however, you can significantly reduce these.
Todd, your work and attention to detail certainly speaks for itself. Question: when you have a car with decals; factory, aftermarket or even partial clear shields; how do you address the concern knowing the customer may need to remove them before the product starts to break down in time? Could lead to a very tricky and lengthy paint correction, I think...
Thank you! It wouldn't be that big of a deal, really. You would just need to do some spot-polishing, and blend in a re-application of the coating afterwards.
I'm very anal about how I wash my car. I no longer use quick detailers since the paint can still be scratched by the dust on the surface. Again, IMO the product is good but I really did not become very "wowed" by it and for the cost I'll try another product next time. The other products I got from you Todd are very good and worth the cost but I don't think this one is in my opinion.
I applied 22ple to my dark blue360 spider 1 week ago and let me tell you my car never looked so good!! I used to have to dust it off every time I drove it now any dust on it just blows off when I drive it. Not only that but it no longer needs a wash once a week. The product is a bit expensive but we'll worth the money considering the time it saves me keeping my car looking pristine The only down side to this product is my wife is making me do her Mercedes this morning before I go any where!!!! LOL
I agreee. I had the process done on 3 of my cars directly over the clear bra. Had the 360 done last weekend. Attached a couple of photos. It seems to get better as it cures a few days after the application. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Does this reduce the appearance of swirls already present in the paint, or would the swirls need to be polished out prior to applying?
Hi Dave, Yes I remember our meeting. You have a great 355. Hope all is well with you. Maybe see you at the next event. Best regards, Tom
Hello everyone, Recently, I just purchased a 360 modena. And I've been really inspired by the work Todd does. So, I decided to give it a go myself. My paint was glossy, but not quite sparkling like it should. After a polish with some sonax nano, I applied the 22ple. This has to be one of the easiest products to use. A little goes a long way. Just a little advice with the product. One, Have plenty of light. 2nd, it's probably best to start out early in the day vs getting off work and starting at 4:00. After my meticulous wash, I started polishing. Normally, you would like to start the job and not take any breaks in between. After having dinner with the gf, it was starting to get late but I wanted to finish it. So I headed back out to the garage and finished around 3 in the morning. When I finally came to the next morning. I couldn't believe my eyes. The car looked so wet. Especially along all the body lines. Round edges seem to just pop. The only drawback was that I missed wiping off a small spot during my late hours and lack of garage light. If you don't happen to catch it before it starts to dry, rubbing more ple over the spot didn't remove the residue. I started to worry a little, than I took some 50/50 isopropyl alcohol and it cleaned the spot right up. Than I just reapplied the ple to the panel. I'll take some pics and post them later today. I went out and bought 4 more overhead light to make my garage glow next time I do this. Just so I don't miss any spots. I just like to thank Todd and DJ for covering the application of this product and their detailed and informative information on detailing.
So here are some pics of my car after the PLE treatment. These were just shot on an iphone. So I didn't mess with the photos at all. It's amazing that the car looks so shiny and glossy with no wax on it. Can't wait to see what difference it will make adding finish wax to the mix. Why are you going to add a wax? Not needed. After I did my paint correction, the car looked perfect, I mean perfect. I really saw no difference after using the 22PLE, but I used it for protection. Posting pics after polish and after 22PLE IMO would yield the same appearance. I think 22PLE may be better for a daily driver then a car that's pampered. NExt summer I'm going to try another product and at least at that point I will have a base line to compare to. As said prior, I was very happy with the products I got from Todd. I just don't feel this product is worth the cost but maybe time and trying another product will change that view. As they say, time will tell.
Here are a few more pics. I was told that adding wax will make it pop and shine a little more. This is my first time using it, so I'm still learning the curve. Plus I love tinkering with my car. That being said, It is a very costly product. If it does last as long as it's supposed to, it should be worth the price. A little does go a long way. Here are a couple more pics.
