    Hello,

I'm pretty new to Ferrari territory. I know it might seem odd to compare these two, but I'm open to people's advice.

Let me introduce my situation: My fully loaded C8 Z06 will be delivered this summer with 3LZ. Consequently, the price increase means I could consider purchasing a 2013 Ferrari FF with 20k miles in good shape. I would appreciate your thoughts on acquiring a used Ferrari FF.

Here's some information about myself and my car usage:

    1. My last car was a 2020 Shelby GT500, and I loved it.
    2. Either the C8 or FF will see the road course 3-4 days per year. It will be normal track driving—no aggressive maneuvers or time attacks.
    3. I already own an Escalade and a Fiat. Therefore, the C8 or FF will serve as a Weekend Warrior and be driven to work 1-2 times per week when the weather is good.
    4. None of the members of my community/car tribe own both cars. This means they are all unique within my tribe.
    5. I am 28 years old and find satisfaction in both driver's seats. While each offers a different style, I love both for their characteristics.
    I appreciate your opinion!

I'd go Z06. They are a dime a dozen but I have heard nothing but good things about them and the track days would be epic.

Honestly, those 2 cars could not be more different, one a front engine V12 4 seater and the other a mid engine V8 monster so very difficult to compare and contrast. I own a 360 and a C7 Z06 and they are completely different driving experiences but they both have their merits and drawbacks. If it were me I would choose the Z06 because its an engineering masterpiece that's under warranty, and the FF just doesn't excite me at all. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I agree. I can’t see an FF as a track car. I’m not a Corvette fan, but if you’re looking for a weekend track/fun car you’ll probably find the service and spares more reasonable on the Corvette. Warranty might not cover track wear and tear.

Get the corvette. I hate them with all my soul but it’s the obvious choice here. Then just throw it away when you’re done with it.

Of those choices…corvette, even though I’d choose a Ferrari 99 out of 100 times, just not a 13 FF. And if I’m spending those $$$, I’m buying a Porsche GT3 or the like, over a corvette.

FAR better looking than a FF, which is Pontiac Aztek level ugly.

A Z06 will be far less expensive to run on a track, and has more upside.

I'd be looking at 458's over the FF for what you are looking for. I really enjoyed my GT500 and would probably keep that but between the FF and Z06, Z06.

I didn't see the FF as a track car either until I saw it one day at the Lime Rock track. It was a FCA track day and there were many Ferraris as well as some other sports cars. There was one FF on the track. There was no racing, but that FF ate up everything on the track. I know there were a couple 458's and maybe a 488. The FF had the fastest lap times by a notable margin.

Of course that doesn't make it a "track car", but it sure acquited itself against all the "track cars"!

I used to do Autocross with my Porsche and the Corvettes were the fastest cars there. Now I do track days at Willow Springs with my formula car and the Corvettes are the fastest cars there too.

Along with the easy/cheaper oil changes and brakes, I think the Corvette is a no brainer.

Porsche wasn't one of the OP's options, but if it was me I'd absolutely go that route. There are PCA members who live and breathe autocross. Again, cost is a factor...

You certainly are welcome to your opinion, and while I dont think the FF is pretty, its a super model compared to the C8. The C8 is hideous.

These are totally different cars if you like the sports car stay with your Z06..
I bought one a month ago and it is quite impressive.. I also have the 3 LZ
Interior…..I have owned many Ferraris and they are great also.. but an FF
And not very comparable to a ZO6…..and if you liked the recent Shelby GT 500… well stay with the ZO6 …till you tire of it then get an F12 or FF

FF is on track to become the cheapest modern v12 "super" car on the market. Actually I think it already is now. Prices will continue to fall as they get older.

The cost to replace/repair the PTU is getting close to 1/4 of the cars value. Add a DCT failure of some sort, just those 2 repairs, could warrent it becoming a parts car.

Neat concept for a Ferrari that is for sure. But a 612 all day everyday over an FF without question.

I'm not a Denim shorts kinda Corvette guy.. but I'm in agreement above. A Z06 C8 over a FF any day, all day. FF is just so.. fugly and as tbakowski notes.. potentially $$$$$$...

Imagine leaving the V12 in place and removing the drivetrain for electric… you get the best of both worlds… heart of a V12 for sound, and electric for movement! Ferrari can become the locomotive like diesel-electric

Yeah it was a little bit all over…I think there I can make some clairity rumination to it….

Saying these parts alone may one day make the repair far exceed the value of an otherwise solid chassis, why not think of removing them all together. Everyone says the Electric cars lack the heart and soul (internal combustion engine). So why not leave the V12 in place, since those aren’t the major Achilles problem. Have the V12 power electric motors at the wheels. Similar to how a Diesel-electric locomotive works. The engine doesn’t drive the car, it powers the motors that do.

Then you get to keep your V12 Ferrari, keep the exhaust note, in some form, yet have an electric drive car. No more PTU and DCT issues.

Yes, I know how Diesel motors are typically high torque/low RPM power plants, the opposite of a free revving V12, but would be kinda neat in a sports car.

Sorry OP for the way off topic post

    Without question... Corvette.

The ff is not a track car and an aging f car that is heavy is going to eat u alive on the track even if the ptu doesn't fail.

Best thing anybody could do to an FF would be to make it rear wheel drive..use a 550 gearbox and make it a manual.
