Why sad? Different rules for different series. Heck, the same cars in the same series have different top speeds. Fer instance, and in this case the same team even, the AF Corse 488s at the test have different top speeds recorded. Also, what's the length of the longest straight at Paul Ricard. At La Sarthe, about a mile. Many factors determine peak velocity at different circuits. Power available, gearing, length of straight, curve/corner before it, aerodynamics to name a few.
I know GTE is a higher and more expensive class than the GT3. GTE cars are much faster in corners than GT3 cars, but the top speed is lower. Why is this the rule? In my opinion, it is more dangerous for LMP1 cars at the braking points, but I may be wrong in everything. Yes, i know.
Quite simple: Higher downforce = faster laptime = lower topspeed Peter Mann once stated that at Monza his Ferrari FXX-K had higher topspeed than his F1-Ferrari F-2008. But the laptime of the F1-car was significantly faster. Gesendet von meinem C6603 mit Tapatalk
Ok, its true, but the GTE cars have less hp than GT3 cars. Troll on Since 2011 the modern f1 cars can use DRS Troll off
Yes being so slow is dangerous. GTE's should get more air and less weight. 10 seconds or so behind LMP2 would be good. LMP2 is 3:27 vs 3:52 in GTE, that is too much! (test day) ACO might be scared GTEs without BoP could be too quick..... they can beat the slower LMP3's (in the Michelin Le Mans cup) already.
I would like the 700-800 hp gt car in the gte, it would be very interesting. Reliability for smaller engines would be more important and more big engine cars could start than the 812 Superfast, Aventador, Aston, Corvettes, Vipers, etc.

I'll be in London for the race due to some poor planning, does anyone know of a place that may be broadcasting this? RAC? "Race" Pub?
It will be so great to see a "Hypercar" class in the top ranks of sports car racing as I've been advocating for several years now. But, as always, the more manufacturers get involved, the costs spiral as with FIA GT during the mid/late 90s. Let's hope some sense prevails. BHW
As long as you're not like Michael Waltrip lapping Le Mans in Ferrari GTE AM car 19+ seconds off the class leader's times a few years ago. Waltrip and his co-driver Rob Kauffman were so dangerously slow, they both should have been black flagged and not allowed to return to the fray. And, wasn't it Kauffman who put poor Rockenfeller into the armco on the ultra fast lead up to Indianapolis? BHW
No change in BoP for Ferrari as per today MAYBE after practise/quali but..... probably not! Out of all data from Porsche and Ford one could see the Porsche and Ford have an advantage. But the race is 24 Hours... Forza Ferrari!
http://sportscar365.com/lemans/wec/aston-martin-hoping-for-even-gte-pro-fight/ AM are almost 5 seconds off the pace!! Could it be Ferrari and AM are sandbagging?
If we got rid of these silly "equalizing" rules no-one would have to and we could see some actual competition rather than just a show.
Change of BoP! Ford less weight BMW more weight AM fuel tank larger Ferrari engine mapping bit better. And some changes in restrictors for few makes After 13 or 14 laps they have to get in the pits! Even if you do not need tyres or fuel. Not coming in? Penalty
