I was about to say "I'll bet a Porsche will win" until I saw that there's a Lexus LF-A entered. I'll put my money on that one. Thanks for the entry list.

    Scirocco FTW.

Is there a GT-R entered driven by the fanboi contingent?

I've read multiple articles on this event, ABSOLUTELY CRAZY. Apparently the crowds soar to over 100,000. People drive ridiculous cars and its been known that locals have driven onto the track and done a few laps.

I need to go to this one day.

Is it a standing start? It's worth asking.

All the SP-8 cars look like pretty big dawgs. Hard to say, you can make a good case for all of them. And if any of them drop the ball the utter horde of 911s will pick up the slack.

It is a fantastic race but there has been a lot of nonsense writtn about it.

-Cars start in 3 separate packs simultaneously.

-Only cars with rollcages, drivers with racing licences who have duly done practice and qualifying are allowed to take the start.
Now yes there are some people with rather pedestrian skills and cars taking part or rather getting in the way. I was talking about it with Dider Theys once and he said it a danger lottery because with so many curves, so many amateur drivers, so many decisions to take per lap about overtaking now or a few corners later it is like palaying russiona roulette for 24 hours: the numbers don't add up (that is not how Didier put it but the gist of his point).
Still it is my favorite place on earth and I would really like to do it one day, in something built around Modena of course!

Also, 34 Porsche's entered with factory drivers:

Porsche and the Nürburgring 24 hour race
Porsche will dominate the starting grid at this weekend's 24 Hours of Nürburgring (ADAC 24h Rennen Nürburgring) which, to over 200,000 race fans, is the ultimate in German motor sports. But not only is it a huge draw for fans, but it ranks quite high with Porsche's factory drivers, with five of the German marque's pilots competing for various teams. A total of 34 Porsche's will square off against other competitors, making it the most popular car at this year's endurance race.

We were talking to "Hindy" last weekend at SLC, he said there'd be live coverage from Radio LeMans for this 24 hour - here's the link:

Congratulations to Porsche GT3 RSR #1 for winning the 24 hours! Roger Penske should be proud of a couple of his boys - Timo Bernhard and Romain Dumas - along with Tiemann and Marc Lieb. Porsche's dominated the top 10 except for a M3 and a Z4.

No one entered a Ferrari in this endurance event BUT the FIAT 500 which started 168th finished 147th - 23 laps down

It takes a certain sense of humor to do the Ring 24 hours in a Fiat 500:)! Talk about spending time looking in your mirrors!

Someone did the opposite a few years ago: entered an old Ford Galaxy in the Tour Auto...which is like driving a bus inside a living room with those tight roads!
