I've never been to either event and I'm looking to go this year and to do it right (best accommodations, seats/experience, etc). Can anyone recommend the best way to go about this? I'd love to go with a team, but I'll start with just getting there.

    Thanks in advance.

    24 hours Nürburgring is fantastic!!!

One of the best events ever. There are different Tickets, depending how long you will stay. The last time I had been at the 24 hour race, I arrived Saturday morning and watched the whole race till end. Price for one ticket is about 60€ (that's under 100$). With this ticket you are able to get in the paddock, get around the track (with bus), use all seats without some areas that are exclusive for VIP. You also get access to the strating grid. It's difficult to find a seat at grandstand within the first laps and the end of the race. Try to get there one hour befor start of the race or take a look at the grid. Difficult decision!
There are also tickets for a whole week, buying a ticket is never the problem - you have to look early for a hotel or a room.

We haven't done Spa 24h (yet), but have done the N24 and had a great time.

Tickets are easy. Wear comfortable shoes - plenty of ground to cover between the paddock and various corners around the track. Make sure you do both the area around the GP circuit/paddock and a taste of the forest as well. The camping is quite the scene, but most of the good spots in the campgrounds are taken by the same people who go back to the same spot every year. Don't expect to show up and plant next to the fence in a prime spot and stay there. Having said that, wandering through the campgrounds with a friendly attitude can be a great experience.

Hotels are expensive and require minimum stays. If you haven't booked already, you might need to stay as far away as Bonn. There isn't much supply near the track.

Parking lots close to the track get packed quickly. I think that advance reservations for parking can be a good idea, but expect to walk so take a backpack. Weather is variable and can be wet and/or chilly. The forest areas can get a bit muddy when it rains.

Getting in with a team requires some connections. They only have so much space and so many passes. There is a Nurburgring VIP lounge program available, but I'm not sure what that includes. Look on the website for the track.
