Hi Guys, I just finished an art piece you guys might find interesting. Here's a photo of it. It's cut from a thick 12 gage steel plate, then air brushed the colors of the badge. It's going on the wall in my office next to my Ferrari and Lamborghini pieces. Mine are all 24 inches tall, but I can do other sizes. Looks good man! Did you lazor cut it? or water cut it? I'm just about to start some Carbon Fibre 3D Prancing Horses. Will be quite dificult.
nice, but the logo doesnt look true: proportions vertical line in under the middle 'arrow' length of horizontal line fonts may be you scan the badge from a different logo?
There are two Maserati Logos, a newer one with a courier font and trident with no center post, and the older more traditional logo which is just like the one I did here. I can do the newer logo if you'd like. Chime in guys, and tell me which one you prefer. The changes I made were only done to keep the metal in one piece. I've got a CNC plasma torch, which is what I cut this one with. I applaud your efforts on a 3D Horse! Good luck, I know you'll have fun with it regardless. Interesting... I'm learning a lot about the personalities of owners doing these logos. Maserati owners it seems, are a subdued group compared to the Ferrari and Lamborghini owners, and not very likely to display the make of their car. Ferrari owners are conservative, but passionate about their cars and come from all walks of life. Lamborghini owners are the most outgoing, very passionate about their cars, and probably the most affluent group. I picked the older Maserati logo to do for myself (because I wanted one on my office wall) thinking that possibly the restorers would be more interested than the newer owners. Not much interest in that group either it seems. Here's a photo of a classic Maserati for those of you who ARE passionate. More photos of this one can be found at the Steve Harris Imports site in Salt Lake. It's for sale! I think I'll do the Lotus logo next. Thor Image Unavailable, Please Login
Defenitely would love to see how the lotus logo turns out. Don't tell me you are a Maserati/Lotus guy too! Those are my two favorite makes of car.
Hi BigAl, I HAVE done a Ferrari Cavallino Horse... hence the picture below. I've done a Rampaging Lamborghini Bull too. Both come in silver or black, your choice. Hi Masermartin, I'm a Ferrari/Lotus guy myself, but I also like all the other exotics to different degrees. A shot of the Lotus logo is below, but I don't have a web page up yet if you want to buy one. Probably I'll get one set up this weekend. I haven't got the Black & Silver Lotus logo done yet, just the Green & Yellow one. Thanks! Much appreciated. I finished the Black & Silver Lotus badge as well. Here's a shot of it. Thor http://www.myweb.cableone.net/thor276/JavelinArt.htm Image Unavailable, Please Login
First, thanks for the compliment! Once I get started it takes a couple hours going from bare metal to a clean 36" piece, then painting takes an additional 24 hours to let the paint dry fully, then packaging it for shipping takes some time as well. The smaller ones go a bit faster. I'm really only doing this on weekends and occasional evenings, so if you placed an order when I have no waiting list (like now) it would be crafted the next weekend and shipped out a day later. I had up to a five week backlog on the Lamborghini Bulls. I plan on letting people know about the Mustang Stallion in about a week which should bury me in orders for several months. Ordering before that would be a good idea, if you're thinking about it. I just finished the Mustang last night, and it looks really nice! I have a red Mustang as a back-up car for the Ferrari, which can be a bit tempermental. Making these logos is a real blast! Thor Image Unavailable, Please Login
As one of Thor's very first customers, I can attest he is a first class guy and his work is top notch.... keep it up Thor!!!
Hi Kizdan, The 12" ones are $40 US, the 24" ones are $75 and a 36" one would be $150. You can order one off of my web page if you're interested. I'm surprised I haven't seen more interest like there is for the Ferrari and Lamborghini logos, because I really like the Maserati logo myself. It looks really nice on the wall in my studio. Not yet, but I could do one in fairly short order. The horse is already done, I'd just have to add the shield, stripes at the top and the "SF" below. I just made a Porsche shield a few days ago. Paint it the appropriate colors? How about the rectangular one with "Ferrari" across the bottom? I've also thought about doing the Lamborghini shield as well. Thor Image Unavailable, Please Login
OOOOOH, Nice! I just took a look at the picture in your profile, and I must say, that's a NICE pair of red machines you have there! Lotus & Ferrari are a great pair to own. I'm only half way there. Thor
Man, gorgeous work. Once I get my own house, I'll have to look you up for some decoration pieces. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the compliment! I intend on being around for a LONG time, if I can help it. This could be my second career if I play my cards right. Thor
