Can anyone supply me with the dimensions of a 246 battery hold-down frame? I mainly need the width and depth of the rails and the thickness of the metal so I can fabricate a new one. The original frame is missing. Thank you.

One of my guys called around without much luck but I don't know if he called T Rutlands.
I'll find out. Thank you for your in-put. It's much appreciated.

I don't know. We have no problem making a new bracket if I can't find one but if it has to be made it might as well be exactly correct. Thank you for your in-put. It's much appreciated.

If you find a source let me know as I'd like to buy an original style bracket as well.

Tony your drawing looks excellent. I will offer 2 suggestions:

    1. Do not get them welded too nice. Original ones were put together rather agriculturally so perfect TIG welds would be out of place.

    2. I have never seen these frames plated always finished in black paint. I would urge you to consider getting them done in semi-gloss powder coat as it will not only look the part but be very durable.

Best of luck with the project. You can be certain to have some buyers when you are done.

They certainly were put together lets say, rather hastily!!!

Weld splatter is an optional extra you know:)

    Wil,
I don't know what model Dino you're repairing however you probably need to fabricate if your customer is expecting a restoration correct piece.
If it's a later car, then this one I mentioned from trutlands is pretty good however it's made from 0.5" stock, heavier gauge, otherwise correct style, dimensions and painted black.
    Order online:
    20022010 (BATTERY HOLDDOWN BRACKET 246GT) = $120.00

If it's for an earlier car, then the bracket construction is a little different, they changed the location of the tubes on the side.

Tony, I'm not sure about the angle iron on the ends of your drawing, all I see is 15mm flats capping the ends. Maybe your drawing is correct for later E-series? (I don't look at those much.)

The corners are mitred, all the rails are made from 15x15x1mm angle.

Thanks for the information, greatly appreciated. I now have several options. If my customer wants the frame very original in appearance we can easily make one but not for $120. I will present him with the options. A rough facsimile for $120 or a very good hand made replica (one of two designs) for more money, which I figure will take about 3 hours to make, media blast, prime and paint.

Thanks again! And to all who replied.

You may need to media blast and re-paint the one from trutlands, paint was coming off around the welds on the one I received. It might change your equation.

I can certainly make them for considerably less. Of course, not powder coated, messy OEM welding, just the right look.

    Rust, optional and more expensive....

Sorry Luigi, I did draw it free hand to replicate the workmanship. We can throw it around the workshop and rough it up a little if you want!!!

Check owners manual for picture of correct design. The frame in post 10 never would have fit over the orig fiamm battery.
Early dino vs late may have a different design.
