Sorry if this is in the wrong place. Moderators please move if needed... I was cleaning out a cabinet in Owner of Symbolic's office and came accross some interesting items. I now have them posted on ebay. The first is a complete set of Dino Books, Manuals and original Sales documents. The Ebay link is: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=7984056910&sspagename=STRK%3AMESC%3AIT Ebay item number: 7984056910 The second is an original set of NOS Ferrari / Champion 375 F1 / Indy 500 spark plugs from Ascari's car. The ebay link is: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6543170822&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESC%3AIT&rd=1 Ebay item number: 6543170822 Again sorry if this is the wrong place but thought some in the group might find them interesting. Cheers, Bill Noon. PS: There is a lot more neat old stuff comming in the next few weeks after I get back from the Lime Rock races. Cheers
Is Dino 07904 still around? It would be nice to give the current owner of Chassis Number 07904 a shot at the Dino set first. JMHOP.
Nice thought about letting the currnet owner have a shot at these. Unfortunately, with the market so hot in this stuff, it just doesn't make sense, unless the owner is prepared to pony up the $4K or so this particular set will probably end up at. Can't blame Bill for wanting to maximize his profit on this stuff. Oh, and the Dino Register shows the car as being sold by Heritage classics in 1996 for $49,500 to an unnamed buyer.
What doesn't make sense? I didn't say "give" it to the current owner. I said give him first "shot". Offer it to the serial number owner for whatever you want for it. If he doesn't want to pay that put it up for auction. You never know the serial number owner may have a greater perceived value for this stuff than any literature collector. If he's lucky he'll see this post or the ebay auction and get a "shot" at completing his car.
Murph. With the speculative buying that is going on in this market right now, there's no way to accurately determine the upside to this particular set, so it's hard to set a pre-auction price for a potential buyer. If Bill offers it now to the owner of the car they originally came with, he'd have to make a "first refusal" offer at the end of the Ebay auction, which violates the rules on ebay and certainly would be unfair to the high bidder. At this point, if the guy who owns 07904 wants to bid, and he'e been trying to get a set of books, then he is no doubt aware that these are on Ebay. All of us (at least the 5 or 6 guys I know) who are looking to complete Dino books or tools watch Ebay all the time. Also, with the two or three big bucks bidders for this stuff who hit ebay regularly, there's bound to be a real rush on this set as it is complete, and in very nice shape. THAT'S WHAT I MEANT. I WASN'T TRYING TO INSULT YOU, so lighten up just a little, OK? DM
