Hello, I am looking for an original ANSA exhaust box for my 246 GTS European version. I have an almost new stainless steel system which I would like to replace.

I would swap my stainless steel for an ANSA, or

I would buy an ANSA (where can I find it), or

I would sell my stainless steel system.

Can anybody tell me where to find an ANSA, is anybody interested in a swap or purchase my box?

    Georg

Tony-- GT motor is a long-time supplier of Ferrari parts. When I was restoring my Dino years back they along, with Dennis McCann, were the suppliers I would call first. As far as I know, they will be buying their ANSA mufflers direct from the ANSA factory which started offering Dino mufflers a number of years back in mild steel. The US version that ANSA makes these days no longer has the clamshell heat shielding on the tubing that the OEM mufflers had. They did install them on the two main muffler bodies. But no current reproduction I have seen has them on the long and short tubing. I have an original muffler if someone wants photos of what I am referring to.

George- There are fairly substantial differences in dimensions and shape of the USA versus the Euro Dino muffler-at least for the E series. The USA had air injection blocks and heat shielding which required different bends in the header. This dictates slightly different bends of the muffler tubing. So the Euro headers and the Euro mufflers are a matched set and the USA muffler and headers are a matched set. I have heard of owners modifying one or the other to fit.

The most obvious way to tell the difference between the current reproduction (and OEM) US and Eruo mufflers is that the kink on the long tube on the USA muffler for clearance under the right axle is much deeper than it is on the Euro muffler.

I had Time Valve make my Dino muffler using a new jig that they made based on an OEM USA muffler. It fit right up with no issues. And strangely enough, there are no longer any down-throttle backfires that I had when using the beautiful reproduction muffler I bought from Dennis from the run he had ANSA (?) make in the mid-'90s. Beautiful welds and fantastic workmanship but way too quiet and had those backfires even though there were no air leaks at the joints.

Mark – thank you very much for this comprehensive and helpful explanation on the muffler. I will check with my European based Dino parts sources ( I am in Europe ) to find the correct version for my European E series. Should anybody out there in the Dino universe be interested in my stainless steel muffler (fitting Euro E series) please let me know.

    Thanks

    Georg

The "new" Ansa production exhaust for the Dino program that OKP in Germany sell is as original as they get (I believe they are produced using the original tooling). I've had one on my early L-series for many years and it still works fine. Fit was perfect. To my knowledge they also produce the exhaust's in stainless steel.

    Best, Peter

I've bought a "new" ANSA for 308 GT4 and huh, we had a lot of work fitting it on the car.
